The lecture makes a point that the assertion in the reading passage that the subject in the full-length portrait of a teenagee girl owned by a member of the Austen family is believed to be Jane Austen is unconvincing for three reasons.

To begin with, the writer insists Jane Austen is the subject because Austen's family clearly recongnized it as a portrait of Jane and accepted the claim that the girl in the portrait is Jane Austen. The lecturer , nonetheless, challenges this idea by providing evidence that in 1882 ,when Jane Austen died for 70 years, her family member who made the endorsement at that time had never seen her in person. Obviously, it's totally unsubstantial to make sure the girl in the portrait is Jane Austen.

Another reason the listening passage argues against the reading part's viewpoint that the face in the portrait resembles the one in Cassandra's sketch which people know depicts Austen . Because it is quite possible that the girl in the portrait is one of the relative of Austen. For example, her consin or other teenager girls of Austen family. All her relatives can be alike to her in appearance.

Finally, the listening contradicts the reading's reason that the style links it to Ozias Humphrey , who was active in the late 1780s and eraly 1790s ,definitly the period when Jane Austen was a teenager. The listening passage claims that only the clue of style is not convincing. What's more one step of the painting process can easily prove the listening's idea. That is the convas. The full -length painting is made of black convas which were sold by William Leg . And William did not sell this kind of convas when Jane Austen was a teenager .  When he sold this kind of convas Austen was 20 years old.

All in all, the listening passage departs from the idea of reading part by giving reasons above.

The listening passage makes the point that the reading passage has exaggerated the negative effects of rare and important fossils are now being sold to private ownership. And the advantages of this phenomena overweigh disadvantages.

To begin with , the lecturer states that the public cannot get access to the rare and precious fossils is not true. Because fossils owned by private collectors have great exposure to the public. And it's not hard as the reading passages asserts.

Another viewpoint the lecture holds which contradicts the idea of reading part  is about scientist. The lecture claims that scientists do not lose access to fossils which departs from the opinion of the author. When a private collector are going to buy a fossil , it is the scientist who first identify the fossil. It must pass through scientists first. Therefore,  scientists hardly miss out on any potentially crucial discoveries.

Finally, the lecture can not share the point that commercial fossil collectors often destroy valuable scientific evidence concerning the fossils they unearth held by the reading. First because the collectors are well-trained. More often than not, the collectors are always interested in fossils. And the collectors who buy the fossils are precisely the one who run for the schools or universities of these discoveries. In the example cited by the author, the location of other smaller fossils can be discovered by using the money patroned by the collectors.

To sum up, the listening challenges the idea brought by the reading that it is not beneficial if the commercial collectors buy the rare fossils.
