ME: Good morning, sir. Here is my card.
VO: Good morning. So you are going to XXX university?
ME: Yes.
VO: What will be your major?
ME: My major will be Human-Computer Interaction(HCI) especially in multimodal
technology.
VO: (似乎不是很懂这个名词,看了我一眼) What does it mean?
ME: HCI is to form a new interface between human-beings and computers.
VO: (nod) What are you working now?
ME: I am working in XXX company as a researcher, mainly focused on speech synt
hesis and embedded systems.
VO: Your previous experiences?
ME: I worked in XXX university as a teaching assistant for one year. Then I st
udied in Tsinghua university for three years and got the master's degree.
VO: (nod) What was your major in Tsinghua?
ME: Speech processing.
VO: (用笔记下Speech) Your GRE and TOEFL score?
ME: Here you are
/5.0)
VO: What will you do with your PhD degree?
ME: You mean my work plan after graduation.
VO: Yes.
ME: I will come back to China and find a job in a university. I would like to
devote my whole life in research work. My father has a successful career. He w
ent to XXX(某欧洲国家) for two years as a visiting scholar. The professor ther
e asked him to stay for a longer time for further research. But he refused him
. He came back to China and ...(正准备把老爸在大学里的成功经历详细描述一番时被
Strong Tie)
VO: But the situation has changed. I do not care your father but you.
ME: (当时有点蒙了,想了两秒钟,抬出另一个Strong Tie) The localization of the m
ultimodal technology will be very important and urgently needed in China. Most
Chinese people do not like the traditional interfaces between the human-being
s and computers. They could not input Chinese words quickly and they could not
understand the English web pages very well. The multimodal technology will be
more convenient for them.
VO: (显出一副很感兴趣的样子,频频点头) Your salary?
ME: 5000 after tax. I have some materials of my fathers. Would you like to hav
e a look?
VO: No. You just talk about the HCI ...?
VO: (Smile)
ME: But ... Would you please give me some advices on my next interview?
ME: Thank you.
