Under many circumstances, the rationalityover the claim that our lives are controlled by the society in which we liveinvolves the correlation between the subjective motivation and the objectiverestrictions. In taking various factors into account, however, I side on theopposite of this claim that it is the society that controls our life andchoices and reckon that it assumes a distortedly narrow view over the key pointof choice.

To begin with, I have to concede thatchoices made by people are closely connected with and restricted by theconditions of the society in which people live. Everybody is living in thesociety and almost each choice people made is unavoidably connected withothers. Freedom in making choices though we have, we have to take others andthe society into consideration so that not to intervene the freedom of others.

Nevertheless, to large extent, the power ofthe society in controlling people's lives is limited. Each person is born tohave the privilege to make his own decisions with the resources God has givenhim. Even one is an bitten apple of God, a person with some inheriteddisability or restrictions in life, he or she is not deserted and can also livea wonderful and valuable life. Stories of Stephen Hawking, Franklin Rooseveltand Nick Vujicic can fully support my claim.

To carry the idea further, one shouldnotice that it is irresponsible and misleading to contribute all the ups anddowns of one's life to the effect of society, if so nobody will desperately work for his or her goals and nobody willbelieve in the power of subjective motivation, therefore, the whole societywould never be possible to make any progress. According to a survey made by Scienceof International Society in E.U., among thefactors that affects people's achievements, those determined by the societysuch as background of one's family, talents and so on take only 32.7% in one'sachievements while the inner characters such as hard working and desire serveas main factors in one's success.

To sum up, there's no reason to claim thatlives are controlled by the society completely rather than by people's personalinclination. It is dangerous to draw this conclusion before a close scrutinyover the great power of people's subjective will in making choices. Everybody'slife is a journey of which the direction is hold in one's own hands, and thesociety only serves as the background.
