The lecture discusses about the advantages of
communal encyclopedias which contradicts the viewpoints illustrated in the reading passage that communal encyclopedias have three important problems for the following reasons.

Firstly, the professor states that even though there will be mistakes in the communal encyclopedias, the system allows it to correct the mistakes immediately when they are found. However, every books will have mistakes, including the traditional encyclopedias. When such mistakes appear in the traditional books, it will last for decades than being corrected.

Secondly, the listening material maintains that hackers may not have the chance to ruin the encyclopedias which departs from the reading materials that they are easy to fabricate, delete or corrupt the information. Since there exists special protection, for example, the crucial information has a format that can not be changed. Also, there will be special editors supervising the encyclopedias to make sure there is no malicious changes.

Thirdly, the professor says that the communal encyclopedia has a great diversity which reflects many aspects including the academic topics. This contradicts the point showed in the passage that the communal encyclopedia focus too frequently on trivial and popular topics.

The professor discusses about the accuracy of Chevalier’s memoir which totally departs from the reading passage for the following reasons.

Firstly, the lecture maintains that Chevalier was not poor. When he lived in Switzerland, spending plentiful money holding parties and gambling did not mean he is poor. Actually, he just borrow some money for parties a few days before his own money arrived. This point contradicts the passage that he was not wealthy.

Secondly, the professor stated that Chevalier did capture the conversation accurately because
he consulted the notes when he wrote the memoir. He wrote down the conversation which depended on its particular notes of years. However, the reading material says the conversation of Chevalier was skeptical.

Thirdly, the listening material insists the fact that Chevalier once escaped from the prison which disputes the viewpoint illustrated in the passage that he bribed the officer. Not only because at that time other prisoners had more powerful friends than Chevalier but also there were old documents showing that people had some works to repair the ceiling after Chevalier's escape confirms that he did escaped from the prison.

The reading passage illustrates that the fuel-cell engines are better than the internal-combustion engine because of its easy obtainment, less pollution and less cost. However, the lecture totally contradicts these points for the following reasons.

Firstly, the professor states that water can not be used directly. Only the pure liquid hydrogen is available for the engine. What's more, hydrogen can be used under particular conditions, for example, the cold temperature. In contrast, the passage says fuel-cell engines utilize easily available.

Secondly, the listening material maintains that fuel-cell engines may create more pollutions which disputes the viewpoint in the reading material that fuel- cell engines will solve pollution problems. The professor says that in order to produce such kind of pure hydrogen, we have to burn coal and oil which may make more pollutions.

Thirdly, the lecture illustrates that fuel-cell engines will cost much more money which departs from the viewpoint claimed in the passage that they are economically competitive. Because of the cost of manufacturing the pure hydrogen and rare existence of fuel-cell engines, it is still expensive and can be used unsuccessfully.

Because of the cost of manufacturing the pure hydrogen and rare existence of fuel-cell engines ( not the rare existence of fuel-cell engines), it is still too expensive to be used successfully.
