We are a new chemical biology team in the Department of Biology and Chemistry, City University of Hong Kong (http://www6.cityu.edu.hk/bhdbapp/deptweb/profile/drhys.html). Our research focuses on applying synthetic chemistry tools to address biological problems:

Combinatorial synthesis to generate biologically active compound collections, e.g. anticancer molecules
v
Developing microarray/cell-based screening platform to identify biologically active molecules
v
Target identification and validation to elucidate the compound action mechanism at molecular level
v
Developing novel biosensor/biomaterial for biological functions and applications.
The research covers a wide range of fields, including organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and material science. Students will have the exceptional opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in multidisciplinary environment and to learn state-of-the-art techniques in laboratory.
Currently we have positions available for graduate students. We cordially welcome all highly motivated students from the department of chemistry or biology to apply (Applicants with a Master’s degree and strong research background will be preferred).
