Each year, hundreds of thousands of students who are from various areas get admissions to universities. Different as it is in high school, the study in university may be more challenging. There is a assertion that all the students should study the same national curriculum before they enter the university. I do not share the same opinion with the speaker.

Admittedly, students do benefit a lot from it if they seize the time to absorb the knowledge instead of dawdling in holiday. The same national curriculum can help reduce the distinct of students' study conditions. It is universally acknowledged that the teaching facilities and teaching strength differ from regions to regions. Chances are high that those students with weak basic knowledge will make up for their deficiencies. Reciprocally, the deduction of deficiencies of students may also make it easier for university to arrange curriculum after new term begins.

Yet the disadvantages of the assertion overweight the advantages. It is not realistic to require all the students to take the courses. Education, which is a huge and important program in a country, needs the fund to pay for the teachers as well as equip with teaching facilities. Suppose the suggestion is permitted, how to gather the amount of education fund? If colleges charge students for admission, it may aggravate the pressure of those low-income families. If the country pays for it, it will surely decrease the investment on economic construction. However, the value of the disinvestment on economic is disputable.

On the other hand, too unified courses are hard to satisfy all the students, and it may interfere personal development somehow. Suppose the curriculum is meant to solidify the fundamental knowledge of high school, it will be a waste of time for those talented and well-grounded students. The purpose of education is to make every students achieve the full development of their specialty. The unified teaching model does not fit every student. As people have distinct talents that will lead to their own successes, the teaching methods should accord to the students' abilities.

Furthermore, it is likely that students should tackle issues alone when getting out to work, which means that there may be no teacher to turn to, and it requires the ability of solving problems independently. So only by improving the self-study and independent thinking ability in university, can students be capable for future work. Moreover, students can adjust their study progress and contents relating to their own conditions. The various studying pooh can meet their needs, such as online reading, network opening classes. It can be more effective.

In total, I do not agree with the assertion. And I prefer self-study to too unified study. However, the college education can not be replaced by self-study. I have a suggestion that the colleges can be open for one week before new term begins and the professors are available at that time for students to ask questions after a long-time self-study, which may make students make maximum utilization of the holiday.
