求助OG上的一道题

A list of numbers has a mean of 8 and a standard deviation of 2.5. If x is a
number in the list that is 2 standard deviations above the mean, what is the
value of x ?

OG174页的13题：
知道标准偏差的值为2.5，那么比平均值8大2个标准偏差的x＝8+2*2.5＝13

OG274页的Example4.2.9也给了很好的说明。

In mathematics and statistics, deviation is a measure of difference for interval and ratio variables between the observed value and the mean. The sign of deviation (positive or negative), reports the direction of that difference (it is larger when the sign is positive, and smaller if it is negative). The magnitude of the value indicates the size of the difference.

deviation就是观察值和平均值之间的差~~

OG书上有看过，还有学过的概统书上有，说标准差是d=square(1/n*(（X1-X）^2+(x2-x)^2+...+(xn-x)^2)

x1,x2...xn是N个数，X是他们的平均值，所以不太懂这个标准差的解释。PS:打不了公式，凑合着看吧。。。
