However, does it really make sense? could the contributions of different occupations be ranked from the most to the least? well, I believe the answer is definitely no, at least for the comparision of scientists and artists.
There is no denying the fact the diligent and selfless work of all the scientists have accelerated the development of our socitey, improved the living standards of human beings and provide immense conveniency in every aspect of our life. For instance, new breakthroughs taking place in medicine allow more people to survive to experience the beauty of life and explorations of the enormous space make us discover more about the mystery of the universe.Besides, with the advent of computers and the Internet, we could get informed of what is happening in all over the world within seconds, which endows us with a better understanding of our planet.
However, artists, with their painstaking works of art, have contributed to the course of our history in a different aspect, more or less invisibly and mentally, with an equally profound effect. I believe everyone has ever heard of the mysterious smile of Mona Lisa. As an outstanding representative of the art pieces, this painting, drawn by Da Vinci, has attracted numerous people to experience the charm of art, to get their imagination stimulated, their aesthetic abilities developed, their outlook expanded by digging into the painting. Although it could not offer people visible benefits, its patent influence on people's minds could lead to some unexpected results.
In conclusion, both scientists and artists have done their proportion of attributions to the advancement of our society in different ways, and they are equally essential for the well-being of the whole society.
