2013年以J2身份到美国,2014年秋季以J2身份入学攻读master of science in data science;2015年5月J1收到豁免的No Objection Letter, 2015年6月10日J2在成都领事馆进行F1申请的面谈。经历前一阵的签证系统延误后,6月24日issue。
面谈过程:
领事(以下简称C):Have you been to the US before?
我(一下简称A):Yes, I held a J2 status, and I was enrolled in this school last fall with this J2 status.
C: J2?
A: Yes my husband is doing a postdoc program in xxx national laboratory, and his program will be finished no later than May 2016.
C: What is data science?
A: Data science is a combination of mathematics, computer science and business intelligence.
C: Statistics, computer science and what?
A: Business. We study data science to solve practical business problems.
C: Is it about security or ...?
A: No, there's no security involved in this area of study.
C: What will you do after graduation?
A: I had many years of work experience in China's financial market, and studying data science in this school will help me strengthen my technical skills. After graduation I'll come back to China and try to find a job in the business with, hopefully, a higher pay.
C: In a bank?
A: Yes in the banking industry... in the financial market.
C: (敲键盘若干分钟后) It seems that last time you applied in Guangzhou?
A: No I applied my previous visa in Shanghai.
C: Oh never mind. (拿起i-20)That's a lot of money to pay.
A: Actually the tuition for this school is pretty reasonable (唰地一声掏出资金证明) and this is my certificate of ...
C: I see (其实根本没有看) Did you pay the tuition yourself?
A: Yes I had worked for many years before going to the US and have some personal savings.
C: Where is your husband living?
A: He's living in xxx, doing his postdoc research...
C: Oh you live from a long distance.
A: Yes...
