李光耀公共政策学院（Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy）

「课程介绍」

公共政策硕士课程  Master in Public Policy

a.       入学要求：四年制大学本科毕业，成绩优良,  获得学士学位；对公共政策领域有兴趣；托福/雅思；2封推荐信

b.       课程特色：本课程为期两年；政策研究和技巧；经济学，政治学和管理学；有机会申请修读双学位课程

国际事务硕士课程  Master in International Affairs

a.       入学要求：四年制大学本科毕业，成绩优良,  获得学士学位；对国际事务领域有兴趣；GRE/GMAT/LSAT；个人陈述（字数不超过500字）；写作样本（字数不超于 2,000 字）；3封推荐信

b.       课程特色：本课程为期两年；为学生提供扎实的国际实践知识与理论框架；多学科授课课程，内容包括政治经济学，全球治理，外交政治分析，地缘政治等；提供亚州国家浸入式学习体验

As a fresh graduate, I do not have full-time work experience, so would you please give some suggestions for fresh graduates?
the second question
I find that there is no much imformation about GPA in your website, so I want to ask you about whether there is an anverage GPA for MPP?

Hi Greenwav, there are only 1 admissions cycle a year, starting from 1 August - 31 December (scholarships applicants) or 15 January (self funded).

Hi Jerry, the school does not mandate a min GRE score. It largely depends on the average score of the GRE scores submitted. However a more competitive GRE score would make your application competitive too.

Hello, candidates are able to submit their TOEFL or GRE score after the dateline. You will need to show proof of when you have registered to take the test and notify the admission offer of the test date.

Yes, definitely, as your application would be evaluated at the earliest and you would feel more at ease if you have sufficient buffer time at hand to apply. it is generally advised to apply early.

Hi, yes most candidates are required to be interviewed by the admissions committee which consists of either 1 or 2 faculty members

Hi, you need to be a minimum bachelor degree holder (5 years /4 years) to apply for our Master programmes.
If you are being offered a 2 year programme, the student visa will be applied for you (2 years).

Scholarship is being awarded based on merits basis. Please ensure that you select that you would like to apply for LKY School scholarship in the online application form and submit your completed application by 31 December 2016.

If you are applying for our Master in Public Policy (MPP), you can apply for our double degree during the first year of the programmme. Admissions to our double degree remains competitive.

Hi, For the MPP programmes we prefer candidates to have two years work experience so that they are share their practical experiences in the classroom. Fresh graduates are sometimes admitted to the programme and they show outstanding academic records.

The Master of International Affairs programme (MIA) is suitable for fresh graduates. http://lkyspp.nus.edu.sg/admissi ... ernational-affairs/

With regards to your question about GPA, candidates applications are assessed holistically. Therefore, in addition to a high GPA, their CV's, letters of recommendations and essays are also take into consideration.

Hi Prospect, the capstone project is a module there students will be designated to a company where students will get the chance to conduct independent and in-depth study into particularly problematic policy issues of interest to the client organisation.

Good afternoon. Successful graduates of our MPP does not guarantee direct admissions to our PhD. If you would like to continue to pursue our PhD programme thereafter, you would need to apply for it when the application commences. The admissions criteria of the PhD must be fulfilled.

You said students who apply early would have some advantage. Now I have already get a GRE score, but I would take another test several days later for seeking a higher score. Should l apply now, to apply early, and send you the score I’ve already get. Several days later, I’ll send my latest GRE score to you too, would you accept the later one and choose a higher one between them?

Hi Prospect, the could be opportunities to work with the designated company after the module (e.g. student could approach company for positions in the company). Thank you Mia. As you know that the ETS needs maybe one month to send my paper score report to the graduate school. Will the admission team make the decision first based on the electronic copy I submitted first with the application?

Hi Flunk, I would advise you to submit after you receive your latest GRE score (whichever is the better score) so it will be less confusing for the Admissions Committee. Please note that the School will assess your application holistically hence the other required documents are as important. :)

hi Jerry, you TOEFL test score must reach us latest by 31st Dec 2016. if are scheduled to take the test on 5th Dec, you test report should be ready within the next 2 weeks and in time for the 31st Dec 2016 deadline.

Hi, for your CV, I would recommend a concise 2 pages resume. As for the essays requirement, question 1's word limit is 600 words, question 2's word limit is 400 words. If you have exceed the word limit by a little, it should be ok. However try to keep it to the word limit, a too lengthy essay will lose its essence.

Hi Prospect, you will not have to contact the professor. Your advisor will be designated to you and your group when your class commence.

Yes, and you have to apply within the application cycle. You need to be a minimum Bachelor Degree holder to apply for the programme.

Yes, most definitely. These 2 programmes call for different documents and you will need to upload them under each application in the online application system.

Unfortunately credits cannot be transferred. If you decided to disrupt your current programme and decide to apply for our programme, you will need to start the programme as a fresh student.

Hi, you will only be offered 1 programme should we offer you admissions. The Admissions Committee will make the final decision on which is the better programme to make offer to you.

Hi, we do have students from non-985/211 schools. All students who are offered is based on the merits of their overall application, also in competition with other applications.

Hi, we do have students from non-985/211 schools. All students who are offered is based on the merits of their overall application, also in competition with other applications.

Hi, you can select the specialization track based on your interest. There are 4 specialization tracks made available:
•Politics and International Relations
•International Economics and International Political Economy
•Social, Environmental, and Urban Policy
•Management and Leadership.

Although MIA does not require TOEFL/IELTS but it requires a valid GRE Score. I wont say that the admissions criteria expectation is lower for MIA than MPP. We still expect academic excellence for both programmes. The admissions to both programmes remain competitive.

If you do not mind, you can email me your CV first (mia.lu@nus.edu.sg). It is also important for you to understand which type of programme (Master in Public Policy or Master in International Affairs) is more suitable for you and which one are you more interested in.

Hi, interview can be via online (Skype) or in person if the interviewers are going to China. If you are being shortlisted for interview, the admissions committee will inform you in advanced.
I would say that the overall successful selection rate (for all programmes) is about 20-25%.

Hi Rindly,

If you are intending to apply for the MIA programme. TOEFL cannot be substituted with GRE scores. however if you are intending to apply for the MPP programme. TOEFL can be substituted with GRE scores.

This is because for MIA programme, GRE scores are mandated.

Well that's quite a long time of waiting haha. But early application is still encouraged right? The committee will evaluate my document once it completed or they will evaluate it after the deadline?

Hi, it all varies. We are looking out for key qualities such as Leadership in your work experience and what you have learnt, how have you contributed to the organization.

Yes, you can include those internship and research projects in your resume and please do. You may also like to email me a copy of your resume (mia.lu@nus.edu.sg) for initial review.

Hi Emily, the admissions committee will only evaluate the applications after the deadline.

Please note that TOEFL/IELTS is mandatory for the MPP, MPA and MPM programme while GRE is mandatory for the MIA and PhD applications. Please ensure you have booked a test date prior to the deadline.
