Note to Evaluation Service users: The Evaluation Service was discontinued on August 7, 2016; therefore, you can no longer request evaluations, and evaluators are no longer able to fill out or print evaluations. Only evaluations were discontinued; letters of recommendation are not affected.
IV. Evaluation Service to Be Discontinued
LSAC is eliminating the Evaluation Service, beginning with the 2016-
2017 admission cycle. This step is being taken due to very limited
use of the service by law schools and applicants.
In March 2016, applicants will be notified that the Evaluation Service
will be discontinued as of August 7, 2016, and all previously
requested evaluations must be completed prior to that date. Also as
of August 7, applicants will no longer have the ability to request
evaluations, and evaluators will no longer be able to fill out or print
evaluations. LSAC launched the Evaluation Service in August 2010 to provide
member law schools with an additional tool for assessing whether an
applicant is a good fit for law school and the legal profession. The
optional service provided online-only ratings of 30 cognitive and
noncognitive attributes and skills that have been identified as
important to successful lawyering, such as intellectual skills, personal
qualities, integrity and honesty, communication, task management,
and working with others. Although most law schools would accept
evaluations, none required them, which contributed to the limited use
of this service.
