VO: nice to meet u
me: yeah... good morning
VO: good morning
然后双方寒暄,问答一些类似于你是不是去这个学校,工作做些什么之类的没有营养的问题
关键问题1
VO: what are you going to study at USA?
me: wireless technologies, especially for more secure and efficient architecture.
VO: does it mean encryption or decryption?
me: no no, encryption and decryption are application level, I will research in fundamental architecture, theoretical.
VO: then could you explain it?
me: ok... suppose you are going to withdraw money from the bank. to hire a body guard is like encryption, but to have the bank officer secretly take money to an assigned place to meet you for the withdraw is architectural. It changes the operation model to increase security.
VO: ok, I got it. (我想其实他是快昏倒了... -_-b)
关键问题2
VO: what are you going to do after graduation?
me: come back to China and establish a company to research and develop fundamental wireless technology.
VO: are you sure this technology is needed in China?
me: in fact it is not the problem of importance, it is the problem of necissity. For example, in IC industry, China government invests 16 Billion Yuan this year. However, in my eyes, it is a great waste. To buy an advanced line cost billion dollars and another multimillion dollars are needed for trainning operators -- and only operators. It is not industry because almost every raw materials such as wafer and many chemical componds are competely relied on imports. You can not build industry like that, you must have fundamental technologies first. Hence it is necessary to study fundamental wireless technologies before China implements the wireless industry plan.
关键问题3
VO: Why did you have your master in Singapore?
me: Two years ago, I planned to enter academia and that master is an attempt to a thorough understanding in my interested area. After one year study, I feel the urgent need from my country and I come back. Now I exactly understand what my country lacks so I will go out again to seek it. To be frankly, my salary and yearly bonus are more than the scholarship. I am not going to U.S. for money.

What will you study in U.S.?
I will study a Ph.D. in the area of wireless technologies. More specifically, to research for more secure and efficient architecture for modern wireless communication.
Why do you want to study in U.S.?
Prof. xxx is the authority of my dedicated area and he is happened to be a professor in a U.S. university. So…
I may be rich if I continue to work in China. While I think my work is of much less value to my country comparing with my future contribution after 4 to 5 years study in my dedicated area.
Why do you choose this University?
Actually, university reputation or ranking is not a dominant factor to me. I had focused on wireless technologies for more than 3 years and know almost all big names. I choose this university because of Prof. xxx. He is the chairman of IEEE xxx and he has a Ph.D. vacancy this year.
What is your plan? What will you do after graduation?
I plan to come back to China and establish a company to research and develop fundamental wireless technologies. Of course, I will sale them.
Give me three reasons that you will come back to China?
My dream and my value
Here is the place I am willing to devote my life for. Otherwise I need not to leave my current promising position to seek an oversea Ph.D.
Easier success
My mother is xxx; My uncle is xxx. I don’t have a blood relative in U.S. congress.
Family
Only China can provide the traditional atmosphere for ideal family in my mind. I can have same house and car and even food in U.S. But I can not duplicate my blood relatives and family environment there.
Can you explain why 90% Chinese students didn't come back?
I mean not offense. I think they did not come back mainly because of the culture advertisement of U.S. In traditional Chinese culture as I believe, a person’s value mainly is his/her value to the society. While Americans are mostly on the contrary. So, those who believe in U.S. go and stay, ignore the cost of China society in growing them up.
