in which the denouement is drawn out, every loose plot thread neatly 这些都是novel的特征，short story 和novel 不同对象特征不同 draw out ，neatly wrapped up 取反就是没有结尾的感觉。it 指代denouement

我怎么感觉the short story指的是前面提到的novels？ to feel unfinished是和前面定语从句的draw out 取反吧！因为是同一对象有矛盾的嫌疑，所以加上了感觉（feel）这个词。...... 当然 the short story是不是novel？我要去查wiki

the short story is shorter than a novel。所以楼上的见解是对的。
