Prof. Leifu Zhang at HKUST(GZ) FinTech Thrust (http://www.fin-tech.ai/) and Prof. Jiaheng Yu at HKU Business School (https://www.jiaheng-yu-finance.com/)are seeking a full-time research assistant for several projects on financial economics. Appointment to begin from November 1, 2024 (or earlier if feasible) to March 31, 2025, renewable for a second period based on mutual agreement.
Job Summary
This position is ideal for students interested in doctoral studies in financial economics. You will work under the supervision of and report directly to Prof. Leifu Zhang and Prof. Jiaheng Yu. You will work on research projects under the topics including Corporate Finance, Financial Markets, FinTech, and Information Economics.
Your job includes the following: collect, manage, and analyze data using a variety of tools and sources, including but not limited to STATA; create tables and figures of data for publications; derive models and conduct quantitative simulations. Ideal candidates will be comfortable in an environment that requires a high level of motivation, independence, intellectual curiosity, patience to work with data, and the ability to use discretionary judgment.
Required Qualifications
Programming expertise and applied experience with STATA. Knowing how to code in Matlab, Python and SAS is a plus. Evidence of outstanding academic achievement, and past research experience in the field of finance or economics. This is a full-time position, and a bachelor's degree is required.
Additional Information
We offer a competitive stipend. You do not need a HK work visa for this position. You will need to meet with us on a regular basis at the HKUST(GZ) campus.
