正文:

Before analyzing the author’s opinion that there is no such purely objective observation, because all observation is subjective and is always guided by the observer’s expectations or desires, we have to make the explanation of "observation" clear. According to the dictionary, observation has two different definitions. Firstly, it means objective measuring and recording something. Secondly, it means subjective imaging and creation.

To begin with, when "observation" stands for objective measuring and recording something, it is certainly objective. For example, in the field of mathematics and many other natural science, the when the scientists do experiments, the most important principle they must obey first is that all the data recorded must be real, and any hypothesis should base on this data without adding personal supposes. As I am a student major in math, I often proving thesis, but in the course of proving, I can only use thesis already been proved, but not any my personal suggestions. In fact, excellent scientists are often good at observe objectively. In the astronomy field, many stars were discovered by long time observing and even some were discovered by calculating the moving circles of nearby ones.

However, when "observation" means subjective imaging and creation, it is guided by the observer's expectations or desires. For instance, in the field of art, there is a genre called fauvism, whose painting is so hard for common people to figure out what the painter has paint. Moreover, the great painter, Picasso, created images deformed later in his life. I remember clearly that there is a girl in one of his work has misplacing nose and eyes, who seems to has been cut into pieces and then put together again in a wrong way. It is similar in creating poems, when seeing the same scene, some people think about a lot of things and produce moving poems, while some other not. That is the subjective observation.

And there are some fields in which both objective and subjective observation exists, such as field of inquiry. In this field, an observer is usually a person who conducts research on a subject, and take down all the useful data objectively, then analyze it to make out a analyzing and problem solving report which contains some assumptions due to his or her subjective expectations or desires. In this way, objective and subjective observation works together.

In a word, observation means different things in different cases, without pointing in which case and what it stands for, we can roughly draw a conclusion that whether it is objective or not. In fact, the two aspects of observation do not conflict, in contrary,  in the rapid developing of all subjects in the contemporary society, both objective and subjective observation exists and cannot be separated.
