150 "Because of television and worldwide computer connections, people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. As a result, tourism will soon become obsolete."

Nowadays in the information age, television and world wide web do provide numerous information of every corner of our lives, of course, including tourism. In this aspect I totally agree with the statement, nonetheless, I can hardly agree with it regarding the result that tourism will soon obsolete, which apparently lacks much evidence, and in reality television and worldwide computer connections bring about the prosperity of tourism.

With the help of the highly developed devices, like television and computer, people can get familiar with various places that they have never been. As we all know, there are lots of television programs introducing not only resorts in the world but also remote areas which few people have the chance to arrive. In the other hand, due to popular internet, it has been very easy for people to browse the websites, just moving the mouse and even not stepping out of the room, to attain a myriad of information in regard to every aspect that he is interested in. In short, there is no doubt that television and worldwide computer connections present much information of what we have never visited before.

In spite of the convenient access to information the television and internet bring to people, it would be groundless to believe that tourism, practical experience to certain areas, will be supplanted by watching television or looking at plain words even 3D views on the web. The vivid pictures in television and appealing descriptions on websites actually spark people's inside interests to go to those places and have fun and enjoy the view by themselves. As a saying goes, "you will learn more about a road by traveling it than by consulting all the maps in the world". So, thanks to the attractive information about other places, tourism will be enhanced and be more widely influenced instead of being obsolete.

Besides, there is no evidence to indicate that tourism is going to be obsolete soon. On the contrary, empirical experience shows that tourism is actually booming in the last few years. Taking my hometown, Shanghai, for example, with the opening policy of China and the widely introduction of Shanghai in television and internet, people in other countries are being more familiar with this city. Now many tourists outside came to Shanghai, having a view of fast developing China and getting familiar with the Chinese culture. Thus, traveling is not on the way of demise but going to be more popular.

In conclusion we enjoy the diverse advantages that television and internet bring about, including easy access to the sea of information and in the meanwhile we also appreciate the personal traveling to another place, to broaden our views and enjoy another culture. That is to say the demise of tourism will never come, on the opposite, tourism will be more popular thanks to attractive descriptions of other places in television or on websites.
