Major cities, always the political and economic center of one country as a coin to some extent, are supposed to receive financial support as much as possible to bolster the country's development. That is not to say, these cities are places where a nation's cultural traditions are generated and preserved, however, comparing to them, It is in small cities, towns, or even villages that cultural traditions are originally born. In this sense, to my point of view, they should also be given monetary help to preserve cultural traditions there.

To begin with, we must concede the significant position or vital role that major cities of one nation possesses. On the one hand, as a political center, government officials are more likely to live and work there. Take the capital city of each country for an example. Consider Beijing, capital city of China, which is regarded as the highest power-centered city, the most powerful leaders are all staying in it. Also, Washington, the capital city of American, where white house just locates. There is no doubt these cities should be supported financially, so as the normal operation of government work can be guaranteed; on the other hand, major cities always appear to flourish as a business center with a large population. There are no further examples than the city, New York. It is once the largest city all over the world, though now only ranking the third. Wall Street is famous there. You may see people here and there talking about NASDAQ; many of them become rich almost one night, while others may face bankrupt suddenly. Do you think it calls for a really large amount of money for supporting? The answer is definitely yes. We needs no more examples, therefore, government must ensure their major cities receive the financial support they need.

But, it is small cities, towns and villages that give rise to a nation's cultural traditions, not major cities. We ask government to give monetary support to major cities no for the reason that they are where cultural traditions are preserved and generated, but just because its important position. Comparing small places, major cities are more likely to be places of modern culture’s generation. On the contrary, classical civilization or cultural traditions are generated in small or remote places. Think of Blue Jazz, it comes from small towns in southern American. And China, a country filled with cultural traditions, villages are its cultures' hometown, like as paper-cutting in villages of shanxi and the forth.

In addition, governments, while at the same time providing their major cities financial support, should also devote some money to support small cities, towns and villages to preserve national cultural traditions there. As we all know, small cities, towns and villages are almost places far from central cities, remote or /and impoverished. People there may not understand the true value of cultural traditions there, so that they are easily to be destroyed. Or as thousands of years pass by, wind or rain may have already give erosion to some material traditions there. Thus financial support is quite needed.  What is more, other form of supporting is need too. For examples, some laws according to protecting cultural traditions from being destroyed can be carried on. In that case, cultural traditions of one nation will be more easily to stay for long.

In a word, major cities and small cities, towns and villages all need help. Where major ones are used to enhance countries development, smaller ones are for preserving their cultural traditions. Therefore, government should ensure both.
