It is true that public figures always lose some of their privacy especially in modern society. Thus, I generally agree with the author's claim. However, I do not think that this phenomenon is correct and more importantly, we should respect others' privacy no matter who they are.
First of all, people prefer to pay attention to public figures because they take a great part in our society. Take politicians for example, the president of America is always appeared in the lambs of camera, because what they say and do might cause some effects such as on the stock market even the stable of the country. People especially the media pay great attention to the relevant news even their private lives are still within their sight. They even want to get something from these politicians' preferences. So this part of people lost their privacy.
Another reason why people are interested in public figures' privacy is because their curiosity. Most of people might want to know what the public figures' lives would be. So we could see lot pieces of news on newspapers and journals. On one hand, media always collects the privacy of public figures to meet the curiosity of the people, one the other hand, these privacy published on newspapers or other journals could earn a great deal of money. This also stimulates these phenomena. So if one wants to be an actor, a politician or a famous athlete, he or she should expect that once they achieve their goals, the same situation might happen.
But in some circumstances, public figures wish the media pay great attention to them. For example, in some countries, to stimulate the sell of tickets of a film, the film company might intentionally make some attractive news about the actors, so they could make more money. Another example is when the candidates run for president; they also might let people know some details about their personal lives to show that they have healthy bodies and good living habits. They even could get more voters vote them. Consequently, it seems that it not always a bad thing.
To sum up, although I agree with the author's assertion, I still think that it is not correct or not equitable to the public figures. They are also ordinary people under their professions, thus we should treat them as our neighbors.
