  Admittedly, scandals are bad events which nobody wants them to take place, since they may cause certain conflicts and struggles. However, just because scandals are bad events, they can mention our society in a distinct way to focus our attention on problems that will not be easily seen. In that sense, scandals can be a good periscope for us to observe the politic, academia or other areas, and supervise them.

  People are always trending to make faults, even they are outstanding and in important positions. Politicians, for instance, are always in a great power of managing the society, therefore making their power valuable for certain businessmen who may benefit from their personal decisions. Such decisions may cause damage to the society, and harmful for economic. Then the scandals take place. If we neglect those scandals, society may be terribly undermined. Some officials, for instance, may take bribe and allow certain people who are not good at investing and constructing to obtain a building project, result in deserted construction and deficit which may be afforded by government.

  Modern media have made leaders and famous people's life ineluctably revealed under public eyes. Scandals cannot be hidden easily, so well as the bad qualities of those who are in important positions. Attention on scandals can make them ware about which things can be done, which can not. After considering about the public and media attention, unjust and harmful decisions can be reduced well. And with viewing others' scandals, which make their craft brothers step down or even notorious, people in power will face their responsibilities more carefully.

  Nevertheless, attention on scandals is also a danger for our development, since it may cause certain risks, including baleful distort and over attention.

  The people who are in important positions may be envied by competitors, and scandals may be utilized as baleful weapon by those who want to take their places and obtain power, benefit or so forth. Even those scandals really exist, they may be not harmful for the society. But by using media, competitors can exaggerate them and destroy the reputation of people who are in power. As a result, right person may be changed wrongly, and possible damages are potentially placed.

  Meanwhile, sometimes people may be too curious and pay too much attention on scandals. To meet such desires, media are likely to obtain over-detailed information about politicians' and other famous people's private life, causing not only human rights risks, but also a deleterious influence on social development. The victims may feel nervous or even injured, result in lack of working passion, and a trend to revenge the society.

  To sum up, scandals can be a mirror of the society, telling us how a politician or academician is, by incurring us to know their unknown qualities. And the mirror can restrict those in power to take their responsibility seriously. As long as we deal with scandals in a correct way,  and as long as the society take proper attitude about scandals, they will devote to our society in their special method.

对于丑闻的定义不是很恰当，并不是所有人都不愿意看到丑闻的发生，而丑闻本身就是由知情者透露的，这些人肯定是希望丑闻发生的。

文中没有说明学术丑闻的作用，对于题目提到的方面最好是作一个例证。

楼主是不是把那篇“媒体过度曝光”的文章用到这里了。感觉有点偏题，例子不足。希望下次注意。不过用词很丰富，语言善于变化是楼主的优点，希望以后发扬。
