Does the study of history have value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives, as the author asserts? In my point of view, the study of history could not only to be limited to the ordinary issue relevant to our daily lives, but also help us understand the process of social changes and find the potential rules of development of human being, thus I fundamentally disagree with the author..
Admittedly, the study of history could help us to be aware of the bad outcome of destroying environment. In modern society, the deterioration of environment has become such serious problems that it could not be overlooked by us human being. People should focus more attention on the desertion of land, pollution of water and rise of temperature. The question is human being still have not realize the graveness of this issue. The study of history of previous incidents give us a alarm. The nuclear leakiness at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl cause the breakage of environment that the species around that area could not exist for a long time. Moreover, some persons even exposed to the radiation of nuclear materials, as a result, suffer from the incurable disease. Through the study of history of environmental problem, we could review the severe consequences if the proper precaution was not taken, which could give us lessons and urge us to take immediate measures to prevent the happening of this kind of disastrous accident.
Nevertheless, the study of history provides us the value far beyond the day-day activity in our ordinary life. After studying of history of war time, we could learn myriad experiences then avoid making the same mistakes made by the past commanders to make sure that we can achieve the final victory in the fierce war. In the same sense, from the traditional military classic "the art of war" ,which research and describe the history of ancient China war, not only the commander of army, but also the leader of business could learn a lot of useful information about the wisdom and art of leadership, then deepen their understanding the strategy of whole war. Thus, to study history enrich human' ideas beyond the daily life.
Furthermore, to study of history enhance our recognition to the identity ourselves. Throughout the study of history of our country, we could learn the distinctive feature of our country, the only exist one of four civilized countries thousands of years ago, which can arouse and stimulate our patriotism. Only by learning the long history and glorious culture, can w e really feel the great of our motherland, be proud of our identity, and enhance our loyalty to motherland. From this point of view, there is no value relevant to our daily lives, but no one could deny the function on its maintain our cultural and national identity.
To sum up, due to the analysis and discussions mentioned above, we could understand the study of history could help improve the quality of our daily lives, but the most important, it provides the values far beyond the daily life, which help us succeed in the career, enhance our loyalty to our country and make us perceive and understand ourselves better.
