Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Classmates are a more important influence than parents on a child's success in school. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

In my point of view, classmates have a much more significant influence on a child's success in school with the comparison of teachers.

Primarily, studying with classmates is essential to cultivate children's teamwork spirit and sense of belonging a group, which is a pivotal part in their success not only in school but also in the future career. In other words, with the rapid development of the information age, knowledge are gradually specialized to the extent that only with others' cooperation can a person reach out the final success. Everyday experience tells us studying with classmate--discussing problems, coming up with a new idea, finding the most effective solution to one subject--is most effective channel to build up the sense of cooperation to students. Therefore, a child's success in school is directly related to their cooperation with classmates nowadays.

Also, the effects of classmates work in another aspect as to rouse children's competition sense. Some might argue that teamwork spirit mentioned above functions against one's competition sense, nonetheless, it's essential for students to draw a balance between them. An example can serve to illustrate my point. Teachers always divide students into several groups to do the same assignment, such as preparing a presentation about astronomy. In a group, besides gathering all the information members have together, each member is required to spare no efforts to provide new plan or innovative design, which enables himself/herself be the leader of the group. As we know, teachers always pay more attention to the group leader, and meanwhile he or she is offered more opportunity in school than others. That is to say, by working with classmates, a child has the possibility to obtain greater success in school.

Admittedly, parents are the first teacher in their children's life and children instinctively imitate their parents' behaviors. However, as children grow up and began their study in school, the effects of classmates far outweigh that of parents little by little. That's why I agree the view that classmates have the most crucial effects on their peers.
