A nation should require all its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college rather than allow schools in different parts of the nation to determine which academic courses to offer
In this era of rapid social and technological change,our society needs person of ability than ever.It is necessary for human beings to study almost all the fundamental knowledge when he or she was in premier school and senior school,as it can contribute a person’s development from every aspects.
There are a lot of eminent people who received a standard and total education before university,whether they were in school or at home is not essential.Bill Gates,who owns the most fortune in the world,studied every basic subjects before he entered Harvard University,and then as we all know,he discontinued his studies in Harvard to establish his Microsoft.Another person is Thomas Edison.When he was in permier school,his teacher scorned him as a fool,so his mother took him home and taught him herself.She lent books of every subjects.Finally,having solid foundation of all sorts of knowledge,he became a famous inventor and contributed to everyone.Now we can get a clear thought that people should the same national curriculum and also,the curriculum must contain every aspects of fundamental subjects.
However,things get chance of different view.We should be tolerant to the people who have special ability,such as someone who is good at physicis,or musical instrument,or writing,etc.Namely,if someone will be a sport star or a musician or a prominent writer some day,he or she surely don’t need to study every subjects in school.If they study all the subjects in school as everyone else do,they will be commonplace day by day,not have any brilliance any more.Instead,they should study their special curricula deeply and precisely.Only having the overall knowledge of a special subject,they can be a useful specialist.Out society needs specialists as well as generalists.Both of them will contribute a lot to our development.
From the above statement,there maybe some contradictions that school should open every subjects to every students.But there will surely be some students who have special aptitude.They must receive special curricula.So we must find a suitable way to solve this problem.In my view,school should have the authority to decide which subjects their students should study and the students should also have the right to choose what they want to study.But there will be problem and chaos when school authorities give students a large right.In that case,school authorities may plan some programs and let students choose their discourses in the given programs.Of course,school should give them some guide from their actual situation.
In summary,whether the school give their students all subjects or not depend on one principal—they should cultivate every students carefully,in order to let everyone become useful and valuable people,no matter gerneralists or specialists,only if they can contribute to human beings.
