Because of the strength of your academic and professional promise, we are also pleased to offer you an assistantship. This assistantship pays for a portion of tuition and fees, and also provides a stipend (i.e., a salary). The amount of the stipend can differ slightly from one year tothe next, and can also vary depending on the particular characteristicsof the assistantship that would be arranged for you - some researchcenters pay modestly more than others, for example. Our stipends for doctoral students are at least $4,000 per semester. These assistantships generally require 20 hours of work eachweek during the 9-month academic year, most often with time off foruniversity-wide vacation periods.
不过很奇怪为什么是4,000 per semester, 如果是这样岂不是半奖? 但是每周20 hours 又不像半奖
