Observation or studying animals can help us to human nature
There have plenty of scientific experiments been done on animals that contribute to human advancement. However, is it firm to therefore jump to the conclusion that studying animals can help human to know better about their own nature? I can barely agree.
Admittedly, studies of animals did a great job in helping understanding the physical nature of human, especially in the genetic area. After all, organic creatures share a lot of features. For instance, it is generally agreed now by scientists that human and monkey share a same ancestor. But what kind of factors contribute to human’s more advanced mental and carnal features over monkey? It is the study of monkey’s present status and evolution history led to the answer.
However, what distinguish human from other motionless inferior animals are their mental eminence --- ability of thinking, which cannot be understand through observation of animals. It is always easier to explain the reason for animal activities because over 90% of them are out of survival necessities, like preying, sexual intercourse, breeding and etc. The difficulties of identifying human behaviors lie in the motive of that activity. For example, why some criminals risk violating regulations? Then it gives rise to an area of study named criminal psychology.
Also, there are many social activities being involved in human culture which does not exist among animal world. For example, the development of art is exclusive to human history. The study of animal activity can do nothing to the understanding of human aesthetics. Only the thoughtful consideration and exploration of human mind can we lead to an answer to what the human nature is.
In sum, I agree that research done on animals contribute to the understanding of human physical nature, but when it comes to mind, only a study of human thought can hit on the answer. 作者: hyacinth 时间: 2009-1-5 06:44:18
there are no such expressions like "there have", "ability of doing" and "cannot be understand"... so guess you got a lot work to do on improving your grammar...
and if you are not sure about the structure of compound sentences, try to write simple ones...
do you really get the meaning of "hit on" ? i guess no one would like to hit on the answer... again, DONT use the idiom which you dont know the exact meaning...
above all...read more, write more... and dont try to fit english words into chinese sentences ...;)
