Whether the government should focus more on solving the immediate problem is a controversial topic. As far as I am concerned, we should not overstate the important of solving the current problem while ignore the significant meaning of solve the anticipated problems of the future.
To begin with, I admit that the government should pay more attention to solve the current problem. We live in today not in the future, so we should first solve the immediate problem. Nowadays, with the development of social science and technology, more and more problems appear. Poverty, illness, local area battle, unemployment as well as the environment problems are some serious problems to most of the countries. Government should first settle these problems instead of put more efforts on the future plane. We should focus on the welfare of the nation. A country that pay more attention to the future plane while ignore the welfare of the people will sure fail at last. For example, the failure of Soviet Union told people the important meaning of nowadays peoples’ welfare. It paid much attention on the Space Race, a competition of space exploration between the Soviet Union and the USA, instead of solve the current problem. Although the exploration of out space is good for the future development, the government of Soviet Union did not well program the develop plane, people in that ages cannot get enough welfare even starve to death. Finally, the Soviet Union broke up. From this we can see the important meaning of solve the immediate problems.
However, solving the immediate problem dose not mean we should pay no attention to the future development. In the past century, we focus more on the economy development while ignore the problem of environment. The fast development of technology and economic bring so much burden to the nature. Our air condition become bad to worth, the lake and brook that once limpid become feculent and with the disgust smelling. Excessive disforestation cause desert in some areas. In fact, these problems are ascribed to the limit view of current people. The government sacrifices the environment in order to develop the economic and solve the immediate problems while ignore the future benefit. However, these behaviors turn out to be totally wrong. People nowadays get some disease because the environment pollution. We have to spend more money to improve the environment condition. So we cannot focus our attention on the current society only.
Further more, some future plane that execute in nowadays society can bring significant benefit in today as well as the future. Since the anticipated problems of the future sometimes require many advanced technology and scientific, it often extend some new industry and create new occupations. This can help the government to solve the serious problem such as the unemployment. For example, the out space exploration project can bring many benefits in the future as the current resources and living space in the earth is limited and will use up one day. It also bring abound jobs for the society and help the unemployed. Meanwhile, since this project needs so many advanced materials and technology, it help us to promote our scientific level and can provide many excellent materials and equipments for us.
To sum up, the government should pay attention to solve the immediate problem in order to meet the increased requirement of nowadays public. Meanwhile we cannot sacrifice the future benefit in order to satisfy nowadays development. Sometime, the project that avail in the future can help us promote the scientific and technology level as well as the living condition.
