The affection of human actives can be measured in many ways, in some aspect it improved the environment we lived. Railways, electricity and automobile, all of these changed the quality of our life. However, history shows that these progresses always have its cost. In other words, human activities do significantly damage to the earth.
Take industrialization in recent years as examples. Numerous factories were built in this period, the development of industry also brought about the pollution of water body. Municipal sewage and domestic sewage were be dumped into rivers or lakes which made the water in those rivers nasty and stinky. These actions lead to a series of pollutions to water in downstream and threatened the life of aquatics.
Likewise, the commercial interest also accompanies the damage of vegetation. For instance, land clearing maybe prerequisites not only for city construction but also for prosperity of agriculture. A large amount of wildness has been utilized by human. With countless forest had been cut down, we owned out beautiful cityscape and fertile
farmland, but we demolished the habitat for wildlife and even made some of them extinct. What’s more, deforestation may cause soil erosion and the shortage of natural resources, such as the decrease of rare animals and plants.
Finally, human actives lead to air pollutions as well. Recently, a research held by a group of ecologists found that climate in the two poles raised obviously. This may be caused by the rise of greenhouse gases which created by burning fossil fuels. If the greenhouse effect keep worsen, the climate in the two poles, even in the whole earth, will keep increasing. At last, the flooding caused by the melt of glaciers in the polar and the raised sea level would totally destroy major cities in coastland.
Of course, I can not deny the fact that our human actives also bring benefits to the earth. Public services in cities make human’s life more convenient than ever before. But personally, I think human actives’ benefits outweigh its drawbacks to the earth in the end.
