The purpose of traveling has changed. This is both mentioned by the reading and lecture. It is said that while people who lived in ancient time need to travel across the earth for political and economic, today’s people travels only for adventures.

The first aspect disused about is Hemingway’s attitude towards tourism and its influence. In the lecture, the professor cited Ernest Hemingway’s big game hunts as an example, from which we see people at that time were travel for control and conquest the nature. As the influence of Ernest Hemingway, his attitude also does with tourism today as it could be seen in today’s sport activities, like fishing and hunting.

Secondly, as mentioned in the lecture, people go for a tour is just for pleasure. This attitude is similar to the conclusion of reading part, which points out people took trip for cultural, education and scientific purposes. People like to enjoy songs and dances from some unusual ethical culture.

Thirdly, both the material pinot out that people was inspired to observe and preserve environment. From the lecture, we know the purpose of environmental tourism is to observe and learning from nature, which is similar the attitude of naturalist John Muir mentioned in the reading part.

Therefore, the two materials are consistent with each other and share with the same attitude.
