The latest century witnesses the great development of information and communication technology. With the help of certain equipment such as telephones and computers, it seems that working at home has already been an available choice for people engaged in certain kinds of occupation, taking IT industry as an example. Comparing working at home using computers or telephones with working in the office, different people have their own preference. From my point of view, I firmly believe that working at home with computers or telephones is the trend, though there are still some people have to working in the office.
Most employers prefer working at home. Firstly, because it may save a lot of time, which once needed to be taken on the way to company, for them. That traffic jams have been a regular thing occurring at the peak hour in most big cities around the world is a widely noticed problem. As for workers living far from the company, it is especially annoying to get up early every day to avoid being late. Moreover, working at home generally means having more relaxation and flexibility during work. In other words, you can dressed in whatever you like while working rather than in the rigid suits. And scientific research shows that relaxation is much more like to stimulate one’s inspiration and make people more creative.
On the other hand, bosses also like to encourage their employers to work at home. It is a gainful choice. Bosses can save the rent, as there is no need to rent a place for employers to work in anymore. Incidentally, they do not need to pay the electric fee or the water rate, either. They can spare their money to attract overqualified workers to join their companies or to invest in other profitable field.
However, working at home surely has some disadvantages, in which the lack of face-to-face communication is the most difficult one to overcome. But, the advantages are greatly overwhelming the disadvantages. And as long as people prefer to work at home, they will come up with the solution to solve the existing problems. So we can settle the statement that working at home is much better than present in-the-office-working style.
