The author advocates that the West Roseville(WR) and Roseville(R) had better to?had better do还是had better to do啊? 忘了……:L be merged. He or she shows us several reasons--the unmerged confusion, the reduced cost after mergemerging and the benefit brought to business. To support his or her view, the author provides some facts in present conditions and deduces the advantage after mergemerging, and then makes an analogy to illustrate the benefit of mergemerge是动词吧?. However, after carefully examination, we will find there are several flaws in the argument.
To begin with, the author fails to reveal the disadvantages at present, when the two towntowns are seperated. Although the author tells us there may be some residents calls the police infrom可能会好一些的! another town, it does not mean they are confused about who they should ask for help. Perhaps, the residents in one town just have conflicts with ones in another town, and that they resort to the police of another town is out of question. If the scenario exists, the author could not convince us the disadvantage of present life.
A second problem is that the author makes a hasty deduction without enough
evidence. He or she indicates that the administrative costs will be saved since the services will no longer be duplicated. However, the author fails to take the population of administrative officers into account. It is true that, the departments of town will be merged to one, but the affairs to deal with will be more than before, which needs more officers and administrative spaces. And this cost will probably not be less than before, even increasing.
A Third problem is that the author makes a false analogy to illustrate the benefit that mergethe merging of those two towns will bring to business. Maybe it is true that the merge:D of Hamden(H) and North Hamden(NH) brings in investment and money. Yet, the author cannot deduce the same merit will come to WR and R, if there is no comparison between the two situations. Perhaps the merge of H and NH is efficient and the new town develops well, but the merge of WR and R will not attract investment since the poor organization. Without ruling out the possibility, the author could not make his or her analogy grounded.
A final problem involves??感觉很怪异…… the author's incomplete consideration. Even if the merge can solve many problems and may bring in a lot of benefit to business, there may be some crucial disadvantages after the merge. It is possible that the merge will cost a lot, leading the government hard to run. And it is also possible that the加个most吧!题目说了还是有一些人想合并的好像…… residents of two towns do not like the merge any more. They may be unfriendly to the other group, which may makes the social conditions in decline. If so, the advocate of merge will be misleading to some extent.
To sum up, the argument is not as warrant as it stands. To better support the argument, the author needs to illustrate the reasonfor merging more clearly. He or she ought to tell us if not merge, how the conditions of two towns will be in, and provide enough evidence to support the view that the merge will benefit. In addition, the author needs to take the disadvantages into consideration.
