Now days more and more people pay attention to one issue, that is should businesses hire their employees for their entire lives? I think it is not a good principle that employees can work for their whole lives in one company once they get the offers.
First of all, the whole life assurance is not good for the employees’ development. With getting a permanent offer, which means the employees do not need to worry about their coming half of lives, their enthusiasm maybe decrease gradually after they work for numbers of years. Usually, one person will be not interesting with the same thing he or she had done for a long time. When the employees have not enough passion, their work have not any value, which should not be the expectation of the company.
In addition, for a company, when the employees retire it will cost a great number of funds to charge the payment. For example, Hua Wei, one of the biggest software companies in China, had fired even all of old employees and rehired them to avoid the new Labor Law. The new law state that one company can not fire employees once they had been working for a number of years, for instance 10, in the company.
Finally, even though many experience will be calculated when the employees work for many years. They will also be very skilled and become experts. I think companies need fresh blood. These news can learn the skills from the old employees and the history files.
In sum, in the sense of not only the businesses’ own profit, but also the employees’ career plan, businesses should not hire employees for their entire lives. An offer with fixed period of hiring time may be better.
