[奖学金] 求助关于Sheffield的Mphil [复制链接]

我申请Sheffield的图像处理方向（在EE下面）的MPHIL，拿到教授的一个口头Offer，他问我愿意读PHd么，我说愿意。
然后他给我了两个方案：
MPHIL+PHD（他尽力帮我沟通，但不一定成）
MSC+ PHD（只要第一年表现好就没有问题）

我疑惑了。。。
MPHIL在英国到底是个什么定位呢？和MSC比是什么样？我该选择哪个呢？
还有MPHIL有没有奖学金？

Ok thanks for the Information. Since you are going top have a Bachelor's degree, it makes sense to apply for an MPhil. For an MPHIl the duration is two years. I can give you an offer for a MPHIL in the area of video retrieval using low level features. I have to check whether it the university allows you to change to a PhD in the middle of your MPHIL, just in case, if you think you would like to do a PhD in the middle of your MPhil.

You have another option. You can do an MSc at the University of Sheffield. For the MSc you will have to do a big project. Usually from January to August. Then if you do well in the MSc and the project you can continue on this project for your PhD (registering to MPhil leading to PhD) and finish the PhD before 3 years. Currently I have one student who joined from the MSc to do a PhD with me and he is doing better than other students.

We have a very relevant MSc (Msc in Computer Vision Engineering) in the department, which you will find interesting if you decide to go for the second option.

MPhil会上一些MSC的核心课程，然后就是会写一些report之类的，通常认为是博士的预备，但是各个学科和学校有所不同
MPhil没有funding的，除非是和以后的博士都属于项目的要求，也就是通常的1+3

那为什么申请英国的Msc多，但Mphil少呢？

这封信里面没有提奖学金的情况。
我的理解是，如果change to a PhD in the middle of your MPHIL，那么就是1年MPHIL+2年PHD总共三年，如果msc 1年 + PHD 3年 = 4年总共。
看这封信的意思是，教授说你本科top，但是仍然比较担心你的水平，msc做的好，就给你转phd，如果做的不满意，或者你不想读phd了，一年之后你至少有个msc的学位。如果你选择MPHIL，就是两年，如果一年你做的不错，教授帮你转phd，但是如果你做的不好，你还得再继续一年才能拿到这个MPHIL学位。
总之还是回信问下奖学金的情况，如果别的学校肯定有奖，就去别的学校吧，保险点。
