ISSUE48

The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.

历史研究过度强调了个人的作用。最重大的历史事件和历史趋势可能不是少数几个人造就的，而是由许许多多其身份早已经被忘记的人们造就的。

示例：

比如今天的题目是ISSUE17 There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws.
那么看到题目之后，直接开动脑筋想想如果是自己写，会用到那些词句呢？
我直接能想到的有 moral, culture, sacrifice, deserve, reward等等
查完韦氏大字典之后，我又找到了reasonable, faithful, standard, proper, upright, merit, fair, allowed等等，M-W的synonyms功能是非常强大的，如下：
然后进一步我又可以根据这些词去通过Lingoes、Google、Wikipedia等方式进一步扩展（将前面的词或者概念输入这些引擎），这样如果熟练地话，用不了十分钟时间就可以积累几十个词汇。
在找完单词之后，需要做的很重要一项工作就是把单词放进字典里查例句（用iciba即可），国内考生词汇误用的问题很大程度上是因为简单套用单词汉译英的意思，而没有考虑单词的具体用法和语境需要。所以，每找一个单词，都要附上一两个例句，并且简述一下这个词对于这个题目，可以怎么用。

famous(= RENOWNED, CELEBRATED, NOTED, DISTINGUISHED, EMINENT, ILLUSTRIOUS)
identity(=individuality)

replete adj. 饱满的，塞满的(be replete with...)
e.g.
His story was replete with falsehood.
他的报导充满了虚伪。

remain in the limelight 受到众人的关注，在聚光灯下
e.g.
That politician has been in the limelight recently because of his strong opinions.

Many Japanese regarded him as the ablest Chinese strategist alive.

许多日本人都认为他是中国现有的最有才干的战略家。
用处：举例形容人。

2.masses: multitude: the common people generally群众

The hunger, cold and misery then pervading Russia had reached the point of exasperating the masses and making them ripe for revolution.

当时饥饿、寒冷、苦难笼罩着俄国，这些使得民众激愤，革命的时机成熟了。
用处：与populace, multitude, crowd替换使用.
