How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society.
第一句话的socialize是什么意思? 与他人和谐相处? 还是学习风俗习惯?

“社会化就是由自然人到社会人的转变过程，每个人必须经过社会化才能使外在于自己的社会行为规范、准则内化为自己的行为标准，这是社会交往的基础，并且社会化是人类特有的行为，是只有在人类社会中才能实现的，有报道说的狼孩猪孩等就是没有经过社会化的结果，你自身的社会化过程可以从家庭、学校的教育谈起，教育是社会化的主要途径”
确切的说就是你在成长过程中逐渐明确、了解了你自己的社会角色（不要说这个词也不懂啊……）、知道了社会的规范--什么是社会赞赏的什么又是社会反对的、如何与人交往、特定的风俗习惯等等都是。

我的理解是，
socialization 是指一个人（在此不讨论动物啦）学习 如何为人的整个过程。
首先给出权威的参考资料：
WIKIPEDIA:Socialization
This Article discusses the learning process called socialization：
Socialization is the study of animal and human behavior (ethology, social psychology, and psychology) is the process by which human beings or animals learn to adopt the behavior patterns of the community in which they live. For both humans and animals, this typically occurs during the early stages of life, during which individuals develop the skills and knowledge necessary to function within their environment, insofar as interaction/coexistence with other members of their species or culture is concerned, but also includes adult individuals moving into an environment significantly different from one(s) in which they have previously lived and must thus learn a new set of behaviors.
美国传统辞典：（我取的第二个和第三个意象）
To make fit for companionship with others; make sociable.
To convert or adapt to the needs of society.
下面是我对这道题的一些想法：
针对这道题目，我把socialization具体解释为两个过程，一是人学习生存技巧的过程。二是人形成自身的价值观的过程。
而一中的学习生存技巧则再分为：professional skills and softskills 前者指的是不以人的意志为转移的客观规律，主要包括早年在家中学会的生活常识、在学校学会的科学知识；后者则为 skills that enable an individual to interact with the rest of the society coherently and secure that one can be involved in the society smoothly and pleasantly，这些技巧与一个社会的文化密切相关；主要是在各种生活经历中通过模仿他人得到积累的。
而二中的价直观则指的是我们对事物的看法以及评价。一方面会受到他人主动引导的影响，比如家庭、学校的道德教育以及媒体对于role model的塑造及宣传；另一方面则来源于自身对外界观察的潜移默化的影响。

不过对于这道题我实在也是觉得思路超级混乱，不知道从什么角度议论。希望大家能一起讨论一下~~有哪位有想法的大牛小牛非牛都好站出来说一说~~^^

“I think I kind of have a different interpretation of the word “Socialized” here. While you described it as “the ability to socialize”, or the ability to interact with one another, my understanding is that the key word “Socialization” is a sociology term referring to the process of acquiring culture after birth. It is the learning process of how children learn language, learn their appropriate roles, and ultimately form their expectations, beliefs and personalities. And in this process, how the different education methods as well as the different techniques adopted by different ethic groups/culture would have an impact. It is smart that you approached it from what you are familiar with, which is the reality of Chinese society. And you also touched the education perspective, but I feel that overall, you didn’t get what really the question was and thus your response seems quite irrelevant to the most part.”
