Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Playing sports teaches people lessons about the life. (570)
Some people may hold the opinion that the purpose of playing sports nowadays is just for improving our health condition, or it is a kind of recreation to make people funny, and people can not receive any more things from playing sports. At the first glance, the opinion of this argument seems to be somewhat reasonable and logical. However, after a further consideration in many aspects, some other balanced opinions should be emphasized on this issue. In my perspective, playing sports also teaches people more lessons about the life.

To begin with, it should be confessed that, in a certain degree, many people do some sports just for keeping fit and healthy. As the old saying goes,“ the meaning of life lies in sports”, doing some physical exercise can give you a strong figure, which might lead you a better life and help you to focus on your work and study. In ancient period, people did some sports just for living and adapting to the environment around them, such as running, climbing or jumping. However, at present, playing sports teaches people a lot of things.

The most important lesson that playing sports teaches us, in my opinion, is how to cooperate with others and the team spirit. As we all know, a number of sports require teamwork, which means if you want to win the game you must work as a team with cooperation rather than fighting by individuals, evening if some players in your team have extraordinary abilities. For example, in 2004 NBA finals, the team Detroit Pistons played with teamwork, each one passed the ball quickly, followed the strategies of their coach and encouraged each other with passion. By doing this, they beat the team Los Angles Lakers, which had four superstars, like Kobe Bryant, in the team but played individually. From this example, we can learn the significance of cooperation, not only in the sports fields but also in our daily life. Playing sports teaches us that every one is just a member of society; we can achieve nothing without the help of others. Therefore, we must cooperate with others to form a group and overcome the difficulties together.

In addition, playing sports also teaches us how to confront with the failure and learn lessons from it. The most terrible thing is not the failure itself in some fields, but is how you can face the failure and change your methods or ways to reach the final destination by great efforts. A striking example that can illustrate this point involves Bolt, the record keeper of 100 meters men running. Once upon a time, he was an athlete in jump competition and has never won a game. However, he did not lost heart and confidence, and learned lessons from his failure. Finally, he changed his major to running and trained himself with great efforts. Right now, he is the man who runs fastest in the world. Obviously, from this example, playing sports tells us that you will success one day if you never lose heart, have a positive attitude towards failure and keeping on working all the time.

In a nutshell, playing sports not only improve our health condition, but also teaches people more things about life if you are good at finding or concluding some lessons from the sports activities. You can learn some useful thing and find a broad meaning of doing sports.

The best way to improve the quality of the education in a country is to increase teacher’s salary?

Some people may hold the opinion that the best way to improve the quality of the education in a country is to increase teacher’s salary. At the first glance, this opinion seems to be somewhat reasonable and logical. However, after a further consideration in many aspects and case-by-case analysis, I can not agree with this issue at all.

To begin with, it is must be confessed that increase teacher’s salary can have some positive effects on the improving the quality of the education in some certain degree. Nevertheless, it should not be the best way to improve the education quality, because it has many side effects and even have some counterproductive effects. Perhaps, increasing the salary of teachers may cause the laziness among the teachers, as people always lose the orientation of themselves if they are in comfortable environment. For example, last year, a young man came to my university to become a teacher in my department. As he was a fresh man in the field of teaching, his salary was very low last year, and he devoted all his energy to the course which he taught, as well as did a lot of research to find a better way of teaching. By his great effort, he received recognition among the students, and the increasing in his salary. However, after he could receive more money, he seemed to change to another person who teaches without his heart and do nothing at all. This illustrates the terrible effects after increasing the teacher’s salary.

Second, there are couples of methods to improve the education quality besides increasing teacher’s salary. If we want to find out the methods to improve the education quality, we should figure out what factors are related to the education quality. As we all know, education quality is a function of both students and teachers, if students do not have the awareness of the importance of study and do not focus on study, how can we improve the education quality? Therefore, from the perspective of students, the school should invite some successful people to give some lecture to them and remind them of achieving the success by studying hard in school. And more interesting programs or projects regarding education can be launched to catch the students’ interesting, which makes the education happy and easy to students. From the perspective of teachers, they can attend some education conference occasionally to communicate with other educators about the methods of teaching or sharing some experience with them.

In a nutshell, from the analysis above, we can conclude that increasing teacher’s salary is definitely not the best way to improve the quality of education in a country; we have a lot of choices. I believe, with the great efforts of both students and teachers, the education quality in a country will be improved finally in the future.
