150.Because of television and worldwide computer connections people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. As a result, tourism will soon become obsolete.
We often hear that“the earth is becoming smaller and smaller”.It, of course, does not mean that the earth is really shrinking, but implies that with the development of television and Internet we human beings have visited much more places than ever before. However, that does not amount to tourism being out of date. The reasons could be as follows.
Firstly, what television and Internet could bring us are no more than what the tourism could offer. By use of television and Internet, can you taste such ambrosia as Brazil grill that attracts thousands of people all over the world every year to Brazil? By use of them, can you feel the zephyr of Mediterranean Sea? By use of them, can you enjoy the exciting of surfing and water skiing in Hawaii? Obviously all these could not be obtained until we pack our sacks and set off to have a tour in person, whereas through television and Internet we can experience nothing but static pictures and sounds.
Secondly, many people, especially white-collar workers, deem tourism as a way to relax them. Sometimes they would go to the forests to breathe fresh air and other times they would just find a quiet place to release the stress from their jobs. TV and Internet, However, could not play the same role as tourism. Which has discharged people’s tiredness and refreshed their mind.
To be frank, television and Internet have their positive influence on tourism. The beautiful landscape and vivid description about its exotic traditions and customs on the screen could be the spring of sparking your interest in the resort. Furthermore, with the development of Internet, tour service could be dealt with online and the procedure is largely simplified and the fee greatly reduced. For example, through Internet you could book airplane tickets, reserve rooms in your desired hotel, and even order the breakfast of your arrival day. Internet could also provide convenience to access to any information about your target place, from local food to weather condition, from commodity information to security situation. So we have to acknowledge that Internet greatly facilitate the tourism prosper.
In a word, it is safe to say that television and worldwide computer connections really make us know about every corner of the world, but they could never crowd tourism off our modern life. |
