本人要考老托，有一些习题想不明白，求助各位：1.Star shine because of ____ produced by the nuclear reactions taking place within them.
A. the amount of light and heat is
B. which the amount of light and heat
C. the mount of light and heat that it is
D. the amount of light and heat
这个答案好像是D 。

2. Geographers were once concerned largely with exploring areas unknown to them and from describing distinctive feature of individual places.
                                                      A                               B                               C                                                                D
这个改错题，答案好像是C
3.The first city in the United States that put into effect major plan for the clustering of government buildings was Washington.
                                                         A                            B                C                                  D
答案  好像是B

4. Physicians working in the field of public health are mainly concerned with the environmental causes of ill and how to eliminate them.
                     A                                                                B                                                    C       D
答案好像是C

1。如果你不看by the nuclear reactions taking place within them.你会选哪个？
2。 and 表并列，with and from 好吗？
3。可能是plans
4。 ill是什么词性呢？放在of后面合适吗？

谢谢楼上这个朋友，这么早起来还帮我解答问题。
但我还是有些疑问，1,2,3都明白了，第四题的ill应该是名词，形容词和副词，如果这里做名词的话，应该也可以吧。我这个答案不一定是正确答案，所以可能不是这个，麻烦再帮我看一下

1，because of 后面跟名词短语。produced by the nuclear reactions taking place within them是定语从句，之前省略了which is，修饰空格。
2，关键结构：concerned with A and B
3，planning
4，illness
