"People are mistaken when they assume that the problems they confront are more complex and challenging than the problems faced by their predecessors。This illusion is eventually dispelled with increased knowledge and experience."

观点：保留意见

客观上来说，现在遇到的问题与过去遇到的问题与相比起来，的确更加复杂、更具有挑战性，这是因为时代社会都在进步，延伸出了很多以前从没遇到的问题。例如：以前只要能解决温饱就好，现在还要追求吃的健康。恐怖主义、金融危机等。

主观上来说，问题的复杂性与挑战的困难程度是相对人类的能力而言的。在每个时代所遇到的问题都是基于当时特定的环境产生的，对于当时的社会生产力、科技水平来说可能都是较为复杂和具有挑战性的。例：战争年代的战争问题，现在是全球气候变暖问题，不可横向比较谁更复杂。

问题的出现是和知识增加有关的，知识越多不理解的问题越多，而且这些问题是比以往更丰富的知识都解决不了的，所以问题客观来说确实越来越复杂，但是我们解决问题的能力也在增加。

1.It is true that some social problems have been improved, such as the problem of racial discriminaton and conflicts among ideologies.With the development of science and technology,
the knowledge and experience we can rely on are more abundant and accurate than before.
2.However, the auther overlooks certain problems unique to today's world, which are more complex or challenging than in the past. Advances in technology determine the complexity of the problems with witch people are confronted. Our predecessors needed only to consider where to hunt animals, how to effectively hunt them, what weapons to use, and other similar questions. However, people presently have to consider the morality of human cloning, control of nuclear weapons, elimination of biochemical weapons, and endless other problems which are in essence more complicated roblems faced by predecessors.
3.Increasing globalization creates problems in many fields such as politics, military, economics and environment, which are far more complex than in the past. For example, growing scarcity of the world's natural resources, over population, over consumption of energy, nuclear weapons, the greenhouse effect and other environmental disasters.
4. Studying history may inform us that many problems today have precedents in history.So we can gain experiences and lessons from the past.
