In this argument, the arguer concludes that the special woven baskets were not uniquely Palean. To support the conclusion, the author points out that the same kind of baskets were also found in Lithos. In addition, the author reasons that the Brim River between the two village are deep and broad and Palean' people cannot go to Lithos by boat. At first glance, the argument appears to be somewhat convincing, but futher reflection reveals that the absence of some crucial evidence renders the analysis unpersuasive.

The arguer infer that the Brim River is very deep and broad in both today and past. However, the arguer fails to consider the possibility that the Brim River might be shallow and narrow in the past, or that maybe there was no river in the past. Before ruling out these possibilities, the arguer cannot come to the conlusion that ancient Paleans' people cannot came across the river. Therefore, the arguer's deduction about that the ancient Paleans could have crossed it only by boat based on the assumption is unconvincing.

Even assuming that the Brim River is very deep and broad , however, travel by boat may not be the only means of acrossing the Brim River, the author ignores many other possibilities. Perhaps the Brim River has a Withered water period and people in Palea can walk across the river during that period. Or perhaps the Brim River may freeze in winter and people can walk across it as well. Without considering the possibilities above, the author's inference is unwarranted.

The argument treats a lack of proof that there is no Palean boats have been found  as constituting sufficient proof that the Palean baskets were not uniquely Palean. But arguer overlooks the possibility that other village may have boats and they barter something for the baskets. Hence we could not evaluate the survey makes any sense.

On the whole, the reasoning behind the arguer's conlusion seems logical on the surface. Unfortunately, however, the argument is as yet vulnerable until all of the above-mentioned evidence is definitely provided. After all, a warranted conclusion is always based upon concrete and convincing proof.
