感觉良好。信心恢复。看来写的时候就是不能急，越急越写不出来。唯一的遗憾就是超时1分钟。。。

Are people's attitudes determined more by their immediate situation or surroundings than by any internal characteristic? I agree that immediate situations have major impact on people's attitude. Nevertheless, we cannot neglect the role internal characteristic plays on it.

It might seem tempting to stand on the same side with the speaker, on the basis that immediate situations play an important role on people's attitude. While people's attitude is the horse of the carriage, immediate surrounding is the coachman driving it. Without the coachman urging the horse on, the carriage has no motivation to move. Tracking back to the root, human minds and behavior are production of the interaction with the society. That is to say, a man's thoughts are primarily shaped by his immediate surroundings. Admittedly, some may argue that heredity might be a more important determinant than the society in shaping a man's thoughts. Yet this is not the case, because it is not unusual to see twins living in different situations turn out to have dramatically different ideas and values. Therefore immediate situation has an important role on people's attitude.

However, the foci would be too narrow if we over-emphasize the importance of immediate situation, while ignoring the function of internal characteristic in people's attitude.
As an intelligent animal on Earth, human have the ability of cogitation and retrospection, which help to form the ideas and values of their own, after absorbing information from external environment. Such ideas and values would shape a man's internal characteristic and mentality, which would then affect his behavior and attitude to his surroundings. Copernicus insisted on publishing his sun center theory, despite the extraordinarily high pressure from conservatives and churches. What would happen if Copernicus was affected more by his immediate situation? Advances in astrology would have to be postponed for decades. Thus internal characteristic is also important in determining a man's attitude.

Yet it is also hasty to generalize that internal characteristic along makes human minds, since human are the social animals. After all, no one could be called a "man" if he has no interaction with the environment. Even query whether one could survive at all when disengaged from the environment. Both immediate situation and internal characteristic are determinant factors in shaping one's attitude. While internal characteristic is the mold making metal products, immediate surroundings are the lathes cutting and polishing them. No man would passively accept the affection of the surroundings. In contrast, the unique ideas and values of a man would help form the special psychological experience of his own. Asserting that environment shapes a man is not so much as to say that human minds select the world.

In the final analysis, the speaker's assertion is partly true. Immediate situation plays an important role on people's attitude. However, the impact of internal characteristic on forming a man's mind should not be ignored. Human minds are shaped by the interaction of the two.
