issue236 People are mistaken when they assume that the problems they confront are more complex and challenging than the problems faced by their predecessors. This illusion is eventually dispelled with increased knowledge and experience

Technological innovations change human society dramatically,  and seemingly bring us a totally  different world  as it is before.  Some , facing these dramatic changes, may argue that we human beings now live in a world which is completely changed as before, many of  the problems that we confront now are more complex and challenging in the human civilization process.  However, I prefer that problems we face today are in a large sense the extended problems we face yesterday. People can hardly compare with the problems we face now and the problems faced by our ancestors.

To begin with,  in the social science areas  ,  if carefully examined,  one can find that the problems we face now are in many aspects similar as before.  Some may disagree with my assertion in citing examples like "globalization "  "cultural assimilation" ,  etc, to say that problems in social science areas we face now is much more complex in involving so many different nations  which is totally different from the past,  when people stay in one country  for nearly all the life.  While I agree that it is true that the problems seem bigger and involve more nations,  but a careful look at the issue will find that in fact,  those different nations are similar in many aspects with ancient  tribes . Different tribes might have gained different languages,  as food resources of different tribes crossed, the problem regarding the distribution of food resources are in many ways similar with the distribution problems carried out by today's globalization. Also,  the later communication problems triggered  fusion of different languages which are just  cultural assimilation that is happening now.  As to the question which one is more complex and difficult, I would argue that perhaps the problems faced by ancient people are more complex.  Since at that time , languages might have not been fully developed, even a communication will be like among beings from different planets,  never to say to reach any agreement.  Yet , we all know they did it,  that's how a regional country come into being.

  Secondly,  people may think that nowadays, the technology are quite different from before , and we can expand our reach to the outer space which are places mentioned only in  mythology stories of ancient people,  like the moon.  But we should bear in mind , that people in different times has different surroundings,  which makes the problems we face hardly comparable with the problems faced by our ancestors.  When we invented plane,  the people from ancient invented carts.  When we get computer , the ancient people created abacus. We moved to moon,  yet Copernicus got to the New Continent. Which project are more difficult or more challenging?  The controversy might never be appeased.

The similar thing can be found in humanity.  No matter where the human society goes,  we care, through the human history, about the same basic things like:  love,  hate, pleasure ,  misery, vice virtue.  right and evil. .  Those things perpetuate human history, and help us explain why people in different historical periods can be moved by the same work written by the same author in 18th Century England.  As to the elucidation of  human nature, are contemporary writers superior to old Shakespeare or etc?  Why?  Because the problems we meet now are more complex ?  If this is the situation,  as we know,  literature usually burgeons when more severe social problems and conflicts exist,  then why few of writers now can match the old Shakespeare.

In sum,  from social science fields , to  natural science fields, and then to the fields of humanity ,  the problems we face today are in a large sense the extension of the same problems we face yesterday. Sometimes problems we met today are more challenging,  sometimes it is the past. No matter how things change ,  we are human beings first , hence the basic tools we use to cope with problems is our brain and hand,  it is a illusion to think that we now face things more challenging than our ancestors in the past.

实在没话说。拿到题目脑子里全是几天前独到的范文的影子。如果照着那个思路写就没有挑战的意思了。写反对容易一些。当时，一咬牙，决定还是写赞同。  结果没有写好。不伦不类的。呵呵。大家见笑了！！
