------题目------
It is impossible for an effective political leader to tell the truth all the time. Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician.
------正文------
The speaker asserts that as to tell the truth all the time is impossible for an effective political leaders, complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician. As far as I am concerned, honesty is a essential virtue for everyone, concluding the politician, although under some circumstances the leader are forced to not tell the truth, as discussed below.
It should admitted that the political leaders, at the very position, may be impossible to tell the truth under all circumstances. After all, the political leaders, who administer a nation, or a organization, know some secret of the unity, what may not be known by other people. If the political tell the truth, it may harm to the nation. For example, when Beijing apply for the 2008 Olympic Games, the leader of China can not tell other adversary the detail of the documents. Understandable, these may play a vital role in the application. Consequently, I agree with the speaker that the leader may impossible to tell the truth all the time.
Nevertheless, from the assets that it is impossible to tell the truth all the time, we can not draw the conclusion that the complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician. In the first place, honesty is not only a virtue to a politician but also to all human beings. Let us get down to fundamental and agree that the leader is human being--just like the others. It is obvious that no civilian will elect an individual, who is not honesty, as the leader of the nation. For instance, consider Nixon, one president of American. The Watergate scandal led to his resignation. This example illustrates the importance of honesty to a leader. In short, honesty is a virtue to all human beings, concluding the leader.
In the second place, without virtue the leader may make blunder to the publics, so virtue is a essential virtue for a politician, or even more important than any others. As a leader, he may have authority that any other common individual may not have. If the leader lack the virtue of honesty, it is easy to harm the public. For example, the corruption of the leaders may due to the dishonesty of them. If honesty is considered unuseful, these situations may happen all the time, which may do harm to the whole nation. In other words, the virtue of honesty plays a considerable role in being a leader.
To sum up, from what has been discussed above, we may safely draw the conclusion that albeit sometimes the leader may not tell the truth, honesty is also a useful virtue for a politician. With honesty the leader can serve best to the people under his administer. |
