99. In any realm of life---whether academic, social, business, or political---the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, point of view. Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superseded by simpler, more immediate options.

View1 的确实用的观点更有成效，尤其对那些短期需要解决的问题。
View2 理想注意注重人格，培养情操例子-很多大学教育注重实用主义，忽略对学生的理想教育，一定程度上导致科学研究的成果被滥用，危害人类社会。再看现在学生，用一种使用主义的眼光看待自己做的事情，比如去图书馆就是为了查找资料，完成作业，参加学生会就是为了积累社会工作经验。进大学前，看到那个热门专业就业前景好，就报考那个，毕业后，找工作也是非常盲目，那里高薪那里他就去，很少有人能静下心来思考一下自己的人生规划，自己真正的兴趣爱好。
View3 理想观点不可以被忽视，是一个社会长远稳定发展的基石，我们应该处理好理想和现实的关系

Which attitude of life should we take? Should it be a practical view or an idealistic? The speaker asserts that pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic view tends to be superseded by simpler, more immediate options. I concede that practical view is effective in dealing with immediately individual or social problems, but Idealistic view of life can never be ignored.

Admittedly, with the development of society, the pragmatic behavior places an important role for people for make a living in daily life. When people want to go to some place, they can ask for a taxi just by make a phone call. When they are faced with complicate calculation, they turn to the help of computer. When they are searching information, they are more likely using internet. There is no denying the fact that these available ways provided for people which are pragmatic makes people’s life more effective as a shortcut of reaching their determinations.

However, idealist which places emphasis on improve personal moral construction along with form individual’s value system is as important as practicality. As is said by a famous thinker, it is hardly to imagine that a race without idealist could lead to its prosperity. Unfortunately, we can still find there are people who stress too much on practicality. In our campus, educationalists pay great attention on students’ knowledge learning, whereas overlook some basic elements in teaching them how to be a qualified man or women to meet the society. While some of the students have been experts in certain filed, our society can hardly receive benefit from them, sometimes or even be threatened or harmed because those people contain nothing about idealist in heart. What they do and what they think are only for their personal interests. Nowadays, there is a phenomenon in collage or university that student has become more and more practical. For example, library has now been only a skill in seeking for information and then help them to finish their homework. The membership in student government has been a way to accumulate their social experiences in order to well meet the job interview. Before entering the university or college, they are too aimless that fail to take into account the fact that whether their interests are, and then which major should take for university studying, but only follow with others. At the time they graduated from school, most of students are likely to get a well-paying job whatever the job match with their major or not? Few of them calm down and fully consider their blueprint of life, career, and family. It can hardly imagine these people who do everything for immediate personal problems will lead to the long-time and continuing prosperity of the society.

Idealist can not be neglected or ignored. We should properly deal with the relationship between idealist and pragmatism. Our government should not only place emphasis on pragmatic behavior in order to deal with the immediate problems, but also should take idealist into consideration. If these two attitudes works effectively and supplement each other, any society could be contributed.

All in all, I can not agree with the speaker’s claim on that pragmatic behavior plays more vital roles for human’s life. Idealist is the source of revaluation, invention and enterprise-ship. Without idealist, any society will be prevented going forward or even be depress, this society must be unhealthy and can never be prosperous.
