TOPIC: ISSUE184 - "It is a grave mistake to theorize before one has data."

The auther claims that it is a mistake to theorize before one has data, which I believe is true, in many fields where data usually appears as experiment results and natural phenomena.
On an individual level, we all expect our thoeries to be right while the standard of being right is actually that it can meet the facts that already happen , which appear mostly as data. A very simple example is Aristotle's prediction that falling speeds of heavy objects are greater than lighter ones, which is completely made up by his mind when meanwhile he does not do experiments himself or see phenomena like that. Galileo did a famous experiments on The Leaning Tower of Piza and from that time people knew things of all weight fall at the same speed, which for more than two thouand years they wouldn't even think of.
We astablish our thoeries to explain things that have already taken places or make a conclusion from them and then help work with future things. We know it is autumn when we see golden leaves fall, because we see this many times every autumn, not any other seasons; we expect to see the rainbow after the summer rain because it always comes with the summer rain. This is the data, which we actually are using in our daily "thoerizing".
What is more, data is the almost only way to see whether the thoery, which mostly appears as the principles or laws of objects in science and operating mechanisms in technology or politics. It is not Einstains' great innovation and pricise logic mind but Michelson's interference experiment which turn out to support Einstains' assumption that makes people believe in his thoery of relativity. And when we consider the case of the failure of Utopian Owen who believed in a perfect world where there are no wars and fights and people are all equal, we can see this more clearly.
Without data we may take the wrong way to explain things believe the way for thousands of years which has already brought great damage to the development of technologies and the society. Without data we may not able to tell which is correct between all these thoeries presented in front of us and the uncorrect ones always mislead people far from truth while the correct one ignored when there is not really a good way to validate these. Thus it is necessary for us to gather enough data before theorizing.
