正文：
Scandal, which means publicized information about wrong-doing, disgrace of famous people, is definitely a negative word. However, in most occasions, scandals can bring the society benefits such as focusing people's attention as well as playing a role of warning. The premise is that people should keep a objective and rational attitude toward these scandals.

Admittedly, scandals can always more efficient in attracting attention than those speakers or reformers do. Scandals are always linked to those famous people who have a good image in society. As a result, when hearing scandals about them, people will feel curious and astonished, which will lead to a further, more thoroughly and fairly investigation into the event. Take Watergate as an example, when the underhanded tricks were revealed, people were so shocked that the great president Nixon should have done such things. Deeper investigation was carried out under public pressure, whose result lead to the first resignation of the American president. Also, these attention can not only reveal the facts underneath, but serve as a propeller of the society. Recently, a food scandal swept across China that melamine was found in powder of many famous brands which had caused serious disease among baby. It is the revelation of this scandal that attract the public attention as well as urge the government to pay more attention to the food safety and thus carried out a campaign of safety check around the whole country.

The scandals can also benefit the society by serving as a negative example to warn people from making the similar mistakes. Most athletes have heard from the speaker that it is immoral to use stimulant drugs which will do harm to their own health and damage the sporting spirits at the same time. However, it was only after the athletically scandals were widely revealed such as Ben Johnson do athletes view these things seriously. Most of those related to the scandals end with serious penalty which serve as a warning to all of other athletes. As a result, the cases of drug-using reduced thanks to the revealing of these scandals. Similarly, the scandal of a South Korea scientists dealing with stem cells who was accused of data forgery warns the scholars that any exaggeration or forgery is sure to be detected; the scandal of those officials who committed corruption and ended up capital punishment warns officials not to make same mistakes which will is definitely unworthy. Thus we can see, such scandals, besides calling public attention, can also work as an alarm to people to avoid the same thing happening again.

However, depending too much on the scandals is not sensible. Some of scandals are not based on truth which is made up by people who want to take advantage of the scandals' popular. Some star make up scandals of themselves to always appear on the headlines of the newspaper and magazines in fear of that people will forget them if they do not appear regularly. Also, in president candidate, scandals will be made by opponents to gain more voters. In either scenario, people should always keep rational to distinguish the truth of the scandal. Moreover, sometimes too much focus on the scandals may make people neglect other important factors when judging a person. The scandal between Bill Clinton and Lewinsky is the best example. If we focus too much on the affairs, we may neglect the contribute the president has made to the country which is actually the most important criterion in judging a leader.

In conclusion, I agree the scandal's benefits to the society insofar as in attracting public attention as well as serving a role of warning, however, what's important is, we should always hold a objective and skeptical opinion on the scandal.
