TOPIC: ARGUMENT188 - A new report suggests that men and women experience pain very differently from one another, and that doctors should consider these differences when prescribing pain medications. When researchers administered the same dosage of kappa opioids-a painkiller-to 28 men and 20 women who were having their wisdom teeth extracted, the women reported feeling much less pain than the men, and the easing of pain lasted considerably longer in women. This research suggests that kappa opioids should be prescribed for women whenever pain medication is required, whereas men should be given other kinds of pain medication. In addition, researchers should reevaluate the effects of all medications on men versus women.

In this argument, the author says that kappa opioids should be prescribed for women, but not for men whenever pain medication is required, and all medications on men versus women should reevaluated the effects by researchers. To substantiate the conclusion, the argrer cites a new report suggests that doctors should consider the differenences between the men and the women experience pain when prescribing pian medication. A careful examination of this argument would reveal how groundless the conclusion is.
First of all, the current sample is too small in its size the fact cited by the author could hardly illustrate the assumption that kappa opioids should be prescribed for the women not for the men whenever pain medication is required, because the author provides only 28 men and 20 women samples of the general population, however, the 28 men and the 20 women are not equal in number was unfairly designed even the limited number might not be repersetative of the whole general group. Thus, we cannot accept the author's conclusion that kappa opioids is helpful to cure women's pain but have no effect to men before the author could provide more statistic data about who experence difference pain between men and women after take kappa opioids.
Even if the sample of research is all rightm the arguer does not provide complete information concerning the women actually feel less pain and the easing of pain lasted considerably shorter than men. It is widely known that feeling is an illusion. What are reported by the women and the men cannot factual reflect their truly sense of pain. It is very possible that more strongly willpower as these women is than the men, or just because the women possess well physique. For lack of detailed information about what physique and truly pain sense the men and the women is, we can hardly evaluate whether the conclusion is warranted or not.
Even if the report is believable, the author unfairly assumes that all medications on men versus women should be reevaluated by researchers. Granted there is difference between men and women whenever experience pain and doctors should prescribe different pain medications to them, respectively. However, for other non-neutral medications may have the same influence on men and women, there is no necessary to divede all the medications into two parts, one especially prepared for men, another for women. Therefor, the second suggestion by the author is also unconvincible.
To conclude, this argument is not persuasive as it stands. To make it logically acceptable. the author would have to give more research's representatice statistic data and respondents' record attest the conclusion that kappa opioids should be prescribed for women to cure pain, whereas men should be given other kinds of pain medications. What's more, it is deserve deeply considered that whether necessary to reevaluate all medications on men versus women.
