5.5 Do you think peole should buy things made in their own country, even the price is higher than same things made somewhere else$ T5
Although many people, especially some extreme patriots may strongly suggest people to buy the goods produced in our own country, even economically it is not a rational decision. They can boast about a large amount of benefits brought by this such as the creation of job opportunities, the boost of our salaries resulting from the increase of profits that our manufacturers gain. But obviously the demerits brought by doing so overweight the merits that they suppose.
First, purchasing the products made by our own firms regardless of its price will hinder the development of our economy. We are spoiling our companies by shopping blindly without wide range of comparison in price and quality between different goods. This will undermine the competitiveness of local companies and lead them to ignore the necessity of development. For instance, a manufacturer of shoes will not spare no effort to improve the quality of their shoes and lower cost in order to attract more domestic customers. So naturally consumers will spend more money but bring home with the goods with lower quality.
What is worse, the indulgence of local manufacturers will not result in more job opportunities and higher salaries, for with the deterioration of their competitiveness, the local firms become more fragile in the face of increasingly fierce competition overseas and are more likely to plunge into bankruptcy. This will cause a large number workers to lose their job and unavoidably heap misery on our economy. People will suffer from the hardness in life , a difficulty in front of people that it is hard for many families to sustain their basic sustenance.
In addition, this is not compatible with the current of sustainable development. In this situation, local manufacturers will not take the cost into consideration, for people will choose their products unconditionally. In the process of manufacture, they will consume much larger number of materials than it really need. So it is a waste of physical and human resources.
In conclusion, purchasing the goods made in our country regardless of their prices is unacceptable. It will do harm not only to the economy of our country, but also to the living standard of ourselves.
