本人第一篇儿童作品。写作时间：40分钟（第一篇没限时，见谅）  修改时间：没修改

When itcomes to the question that which way people should follow and which goal should people realize, it alwaysaccompany with a lot of diversions.Different people have different views on this question. Some people propose that every should gotheir own way to live , because everyonehas only one life and it is their right to decide how to use their lives.However , other people think every individuals is a gear of our machine ofsociety , we should follow the realistic way to finish tasks assigned to eachone in order to maintain the running of this machine. In my opinion, this society can not be developed without either of these twokinds of people, so it is best for our world to have both of these two kinds ofpeople and so are ourselves.


Indeedthe machine of our society should be maintained by following rules both legaland social, carrying out duties and toleration of monotones. It is said that all great things are built up by finishing dailynormal tasks. As an old Chinese sayinggoes: Without accumulation of small steps ,you can never reach out thousands of miles.Achieving realistic goals is the stead rockto build a great achievement. Especiallynowadays, focusing on achieving realistic goals was respected as an virtue because so many people strived to engaged insome fast successful methods, fast moneyearning and one-night fames. However,these fast methods always direct peopleto a wrong way. Therefore, it is necessary for us to pay attention to achieverealistic goals.


However,the history always proved that the world was most changed by some seemly crazypeople. The illuminati in our textbookalways set good examples to show that only paranoia can survive.I believe Howard Huges's crazyrigorous requirements on the movie andhis biggest ever plane at that time impressed each of us, and now most top scientists' work aresupported by his foundation. I believeSteve Jobs's grinding aesthetic requirements on every details of Apple's product actually promote ourtechnology at least 10 years, and now most aspects of our live are affected byonly small number of his beautiful products. Actually, there are a lot ofexamples showing us that being a seemly crazy people with ambitious dreams andgoals can change the world.


Based onwhat I said above, I think the world need both of two types of people and wecan be a person with both of these characteristics. We should hold someambitious dreams and goals and persist on them, at the same we should do things in a realistic way with patience anddiligence.

This paragraph states three reasons to support that why Ethanol fuel is not a good replacement for gasoline. However, the professor in the lecture refute these three reasons one by one.

First, the increase of ethanol fuel will not impose  stress to environment as gasoline did because growing plant used for ethanol production will counteract  the effect of CO2 release by use of ethanol.  He point out that one of the major plants such as corn which is used for production of ethanol will absorb carbon dioxide during growing process. The amount of  absorbed carbon dioxide is even more than the amount of that released by ethanol. Therefore the whole process  of production and use of ethanol will be good to environment.

Second, the production of ethanol will not reduce the amount of plants available for food of animals since the newly developed technology allowed us to produce ethanol using  the specific part of corn that cannot be eaten by animals such as cows and chickens. He emphasize that the stem of corn can be used to produce ethanol , and the corn can be used as food.  In this way , the production of ethanol will not affect the food supply for animals.

Third, ethanol fuel will reduce its price in future to a level very competitive than gasoline. The professor pointed out that in the long run the government will reduce ethanol's price as the production of ethanol will increase 3 times once the use of ethanol as fuel was widely accepted. He also predicated the price would  drop by 40%.

All in all, the professor disapproved all the reasons which support that ethanol can not be a good replacement for gasoline.  He pointed out that the increased use of ethanol will not impose any stress to environment and food supply to animals, the price also will decrease to a competitive level.

With the development of technology which enables people to communicate and collaborate more efficiently and quickly, increasing people sometimes will work at home using only computer and telephone. However, when it comes to the question that whether working at home is better than working in the office, I believe many people, like me , will agree that working in the office is better for its efficient communication with bosses and colleagues, an relatively more serious circumstances and

First of all, working at office enables us to communicate with people around more efficiently, especially bosses and colleagues, thus the work performance can be enhanced. And computer and telephone nowadays can never simulate the working situations in office hundred percent .You have to admit that computer is just an alternative method for us to request, report and retouch. Without touching and playing without the primary model of your product, such as a mobile phone, toy, stationary, or something else, your bosses or founding supporters can hardly be convinced that your product will be a shock in the market, let alone they can provide some useful suggestions. Without face to face communication with your supervisor about your manuscript or annual report of your study, you won’t be able to obtain vivid dictation and revision of your paper. Without body language and smile on your face in the office, how can you show your fully confidence and energy in front of your bosses. Therefore, there is always something that the cold computer and telephone can never simulate and reconstruct, and that part happened to be a very important unalienable part and in our daily life and work.

Secondly, the efficiency of working in the office not only comes from the efficient communication, but also comes from the busy atmosphere around you. Yup, the environment of your work also is a crucial factor for your working performance. There are so many distractions at home around you. An telephone call from some company inform you that you have to pay some bills, your neighbor is shaving his garden, your cat is constantly disturbing you by biting your foot and your babies are crying. All of these detractions cannot be avoided even if you close your room’s door, and any of them will deviated your mind from your work in which you have to spend half of an hour to re-concentrate on your progress. All of this horrible experience may exist in almost everyone’s life, let alone even there’s no distraction, you still waste your time to constantly check your email every 5 minutes, browse your friends’ status on facebook every 20miutes and reply them one by one for nearly an hour without even touch your work in a whole day. Therefore, I think a better environment proper for work is also a better enzyme to enhance your work performance, wearers a bad environment will be a demon that inhibit your work progress.  

Last but not the least, the culture of a company is a crucial factor to accumulate soft treasure of that company. Nearly every world famous company will have its own characteristic and culture which is known by all of us. Apple is known for its elegant and considerate design of product and even sales store. Image that all the workers including engineers, designers and CEOs in Apple are working at home—they definitely have the technology and equipment to do that—then no one will be impressed by its magnificent office and store. If all the workers in Google are working at home, then on one will be impressed and attracted by its office’s environment which is absolutely a most important factor for young talents to join Google. All in all, office is a most important factor for a company to build up its image and culture which actually is the soul of a company.

From what I have said above, I guess the conclusion can be easily drawn that working in the office is a key point for not only the workers but also the company. The reasons are that working in the office can enhance workers’ performance by effective communications and distractions free environment, and most importantly can determine the image and soul of a company.

Do you agree with the following statement? In a team, those who do not accept others’ criticism cannot succeed.
It is human nature to accept only those extoling and rule out criticism. However, just like indolence, it belongs to part of bad human natures which should be overcome constantly in our whole life for progression. To the extent of my experience, I definitely agree with statement that people can’t be successful without accept others’ criticism with heart.
First of all, resistance to criticism of others, especially those who are responsible for you, will somehow make you know nothing about your project or behavior viewed by others. However, those suggestions often refers to the points you never will notice and always crucial to your further work. There is an old saying: Keep old man’s suggestions away, there should be troubles on your way. Since you can never see yourself objectively, it is best for you to see your back by others’ eyes.
Secondly, resistance with others’ criticism also will cause bad relationship with all other team members which will cause not only your failure but also will jeopardize the whole team’s fate. No one likes to be with a man always pompous and in the long run, no one will give you suggestions any more. This rift cannot be fixed perfectly and will escalate if you do nothing to improve. The empire of lehman brothers finally announced its bankruptcy after 112 years of running as a tycoon in the area of economics. Many professional analyses pointed out that if the newly instated CEO of Lehman can accept the committee’s suggestion to raise enough money, the Lehman would not fell so quickly.
Last but not the least, close corporation is critical for a team to be successful, thus any team member who violates the regulations or just simply do not accept others’ criticism will be isolated or even fired. The work in unit and close corporation is so important that a team will pay any price to maintain. In my experience as a president in dance association in school, one people’s reluctance to accept the time schedule will cause the whole performance to fail. So, I will punish those team members by eliminate their names form the cast without pity to keep the whole team perform smoothly.
All in all, accepting others’ criticism is so important for not only oneself but also for the whole team. You can have a better view point to inspect loopholes and fatal error which you usually ignore for your project and behavior. The relationship of you and the team will be more smooth and finally will win you honors and the team’s success.

时间：约40分钟，30分钟的时候只写到第二点，于是第三点就没写了。

Have you ever been waiting for your friends’ replies but finally comes up his or her letter telling you that he or she want to break up with you? Have you ever get the wrong information from others’ letter and misunderstand all things and messed it up? Have you ever been struggling on how to express your complicated thought in e-mail clearly in order to avoid misunderstanding? If you have any of the experience above, you will definitely know that discussing upsetting or controversial problems with others through e-mail or text message is the worst idea in the world.

First of all, discussing important matters not face to face was usually considered as a sign of reckless and immaturity of social behavior. Nowadays, possibly 95% of people in developed country will agree that this is not a good representation of courtesy. The most possible reason for not discussing upsetting matters with others in person is afraid, one of the human natures, instead of making things easy. Breaking up with your girlfriend or boyfriend will exert more hurts to him or her than telling him face to face, and all of us it will be relatively easy for yourself. Discuss something wrong in your work with your supervisor using just email or even text message will no doubt be considered as un-sincerity and evasive of responsibility. Normally, these apologies cannot be accepted. Since discussing upsetting matters with others has become a recognized social rule as a sign of courtesy. Therefore, I believe that for important matters, especially for those embarrassing, upsetting or controversial problems, face to face communication is the best way to show your sincerity and apology.

Secondly, e-mail and text message is such limited methods for manifest, clarify or explain those upsetting or controversial problems that they always recruit more troubles and misunderstandings, thus make the whole situation even worse. As all we know, e-mail only contains text message by which others can hardly see your face expressions, emotions or hear your tones and words. Sometimes only text is far from enough to load your complicated thoughts and feelings. So, how do you make sure others have completely understood what you are talking about? How do you make sure your text message will not be lost due to the internet error or junk email screening? How do you make sure others’ real reactions when they know the truth by which you can adopt the next moves?  As I perspective, discussing those important things by email or text message will not make things straightforward of simple but only predicted more potential troubles or even larger upsetting and controversial arguments.

All in all, discussing upsetting or controversial problems by e-mail or text message actually was a bad habit which should be abandoned or avoid in our daily life and career. It is only the representation of your afraid or timidity side which could be disdained or taunted by others. It will also reduce your strength or courage to confront the troubles and storms in your life. Therefore, I completely believe that face to face communication is the best way to deal with those embarrassing, upsetting and controversial problems.

修改时间：2min,在word里把错词修正了
This passage listed three points casting doubts on the painting of Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet that it is not a work by Rembrandt. However, the lecturer refutes these three points one by one and confirms that this painting is indeed a work of Rembrandt.

First of all, the lecturer asserts that the fur collar which seems to be inconsistent with the white lined cap was added on the top of the painting after 100 years. The reason why the collar was added is because in this way the value of this work could increase. However, the original painting, as carefully inspected by expert, is exactly consistent.

Secondly, the inconsistence of light and shadow which do not fit together was also caused by the later added color for increasing its value. Since the face was re-painted with somehow fresh color, it looks like it reflected light. However, in the original painting, the light and shadow of the face is soft and consistent.

Finally, the original back of the painting reveals that it was indeed painted on a whole piece of wood, not several pieces of wood glued together as revealed by the passage. Moreover, the lecture points out that the wood used in this painting was proved by experts that it happened to be the wood Rembrandt used for his self-portrait with hat.

All in all, the lecture listed three strong evidences to refute the passage point to point.

The quality of education is usually recognized as an indication of the strength and potential of a country, thus nearly all the country in the world see the methods to improve the quality of education as a basic and important issue. Some people posited that increasing teacher’s salaries will result improvement of education quality. However, as for me, I didn’t agree with such a statement.
First of all, the quality of education was mostly attributed to quality of teacher while the salaries are not good or proper indicators or methods to improve the quality of teacher.  The teacher‘s quality comes from the long time professional training as a teacher before and after they really become a teacher.  Therefore, it can’t be improved significantly in just one night or merely by salaries increment.  How you ever seen a teacher known for his or her bad tempers become benign because of money? Have you ever seen a musical or physical teacher’s skills suddenly improved to an expert level?  Therefore, I believe that since the quality of teacher cannot be improved merely by salaries increasing, so the quality of education also cannot be improved by this method.

Secondly, the environment and principles of a school also are crucial factors contributed to quality of education, and this was mostly determined by the founder or vice-chancellor of that school. As all we know, every school has her own motto or school dresses or even school songs.  These soft treasures which every school strived to establish could provide a special environment for students to learn not only knowledge but also principles of life, and it always become an characteristic of that school to attract more student. However, this soft or sprite treasure cannot be established only by increase the teacher’s salaries, or even worse, maybe damaged by this method.

Finally, even if the salaries of teacher were increased, the quality of education will not be definitely improved since the factors affect the quality of education is so wide and complicated. Maybe the increasing salaries will exert adverse effect to the quality of education since the extra money will always cause unexpected problems to the performance of teachers. For instance, a primary school near my home recently increases the salaries of teachers to encourage them. However, after two months of salaries increasing, two teachers were found to be insouciant when they are on duty because they use the extra money to drink at night.  So, who can assert that increasing salaries will be an incitement for teacher’s performance?

All in all, from what I have discussed above, the conclusion can be easily drawn that the quality of education cannot be improved significantly by merely increasing teacher’s salaries.

麦马是CAS，computing and software，需要完成一个独立项目，学制较灵活，可选择coop。滑铁卢是ECE，需要连续上课，最快12个月完成，没办法实习，但学校和专业排名更好。
