Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: In order to become financially

responsible adults, children should manage their own money at the young age.

(Money)

Nowadays, when it comes to whether it is necessary for children to make their own money, opinions vary from person to person as peoples’ distinctive background and experience. In my point of view, even if the money made by children cannot cover all their expenditure, I do believe that the experience of work has many advantages.

First of all, the feeling of independence and success that comes from the experience of making their own money can help them build confidence. After all, if they can spend their own money on tuition, gifts or books, they must feel right. Moreover, though the salary is not likely to pay all their cost and it is difficult for children to live on themselves, working can absolutely encourage a strong work ethic and appreciation of their parents. For example, when it takes a child many hours of hard-working to make several dollars, he or she will understand their parents and will not spend money on something that is not useful.

In addition, a popular criticism of schools is that they are ivory towers, or places where study and research are divorced from the real world. Thus the working experience offers children opportunities to recognize this society. Moreover, the exciting advantage is that they can also apply their knowledge studied in school to their working region. Biography, which is always presented by words and photos, is not easy to understand and to be interested in. But if a child’s work is about farm, forest or biography laboratory, he or she will have the chance to learn actual animals and plants. And what was a abstract subject then becomes a concrete and interesting goal with a relationship to the child’s life.

Finally, working experience can broaden children’s horizon and help them follow the pace of scientific development. After all, for example, according to Moore’s law, the power and memory of computer doubles every 18 months. Therefore, if we read a reference book which was published 5 or 6 years ago, the content is likely to be behind the times. But, when they are practicing at some technologic companies, they have the opportunity to meet every kinds of new products and keep pace with this modern times.

To sum it up, although it is difficult for children to make their own money, I believe that the experience of work is useful and helpful. And the experience, knowledge and, even mistakes got from their work will be a valuable treasure of their lives.
