Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? although science and technology will continue to improve, the most significant improvement for the quality of
people's lives have already taken place?

civilization is a method of living, an attitude of equal respect for all men. said the American femist Jane Adams. Indeed, the technology and science are developing at a high race, and the benefits they bring to humanity still accumulating. however, concerning the quality of people's life, in my opinion, the most significant improvement have already brought by the high civilization we have built.

First of all, Technology can bring us practical benefits and convenience while civilization can bring us spiritual ones.
For instance, nowadays, mobile phones have become more and more popular and even a necessity in people's life.
The technology of mobile phones has developed very fast. But among all the high-tech modern mobile phones, why is iPhone the most popular? the answser simply lies in its customer-oriented design, which is a result of civilized care for people. iphone has many designs that take into consideration the feeling and feedback of customers, like the unlock software, the voice operation function, the touch-focus camera。 With those customer-friendly design, iPhone has beat many other high-tech cell phones which have faster cpu, higher pixels camera and larger screen.

Second, the quality of life is determined by the index of happiness of people, not the index of wealth, status or fame. The index of happiness is usually determined by the living environment, including natural and political. Like people living in Sweden, Denmark and Netherland, the technology of their country is not as advanced as those high-tech countries in their neighborhood like Germany, England, but the happiness index of those countries are much higher than their neighbors. Why? Not mentioned the natural environment of those country are terrific, the policies of those countries are good.
It is indeed the people-oriented culture and high harmonic civilization that make the people in Nordic four countries live a much happier life than anywhere else.

Last but not least, without highly developed civilization and high people-oriented culture, no matter how advanced and good the technology is, people are only slaves of the techniques, not the master of them.
Like in the movie Terminator， human are controlled and even hunted by high-intelligent robots. Not only in the science fiction, in reality, the abuse of science and technology has brought human a lot of disaster.
The recent Sakishima Nuclear Disaster is an illuminating example of it.
In march, 2011, a tsunami attacked the east coastline of Japan and have cause one of the reaction centre of Sakishima Nuclear Plants broken and some of the radioactive materials has spread out during the tsunami and cause great environmental and political impact to the people in East Asia.
Reminding us the last disaster in three-mile island, this Sakishima Nuclear Disaster has more profound influence because the radioactive materials has gone into the ocean water and may influence the whole ecosystem in the Pacific Ocean.

Simply put, it is the highly developed civilization not the technology that determines people's quality of life.
Even though the science and technology keep improving, the highly development of civilization has already given us the most significant improvement in our life.
Without the guidance of highly developed civilization, technology may become weapon, devil and even terminators for Human.
