[资料分享] 有关《再要你命3000》的释义准确性 [复制链接]

闲得无事,用韦氏词典(红和绿的)查了一下该书的释义,发现一些词汇的释义似乎与这两本词典不符,自己不敢下结论,因此想问问诸位网友,以求得高手的解答!谢谢!以下列举了部分词汇释义:

scrupe: 1. noun, a feeling that prevents you from doing something that you think is wrong;
                2. verb, to be unwilling to do something because you think it is improper.

meditate: verb, to spend time in quiet thought for religious purposes or relaxation;
                 meditate on/ upon: to think about something carefully;

behoove: verb, to be necessary or proper for someone: It behooves a good citizen to obey the law = a good citizen should obey the law;

redeem: verb, 1. to make ( something that is bad, unpleasant ) better or more acceptable;
                           2. exchange for money; You can redeem this coupon at any store;
                           3. buy back; pay back;
                           4. to do what is required by a promise or a pledge;
debonair: adj, somewhat old-fashioned, of a man: dressing and acting in an appealing and sophisitcated way: fashionable, attractive, and confident; His handsome face and debonair manner made him very poplar with the ladies.

incumbent: adj, holding an of fice or position;  incumbent on / upon: necessary as a duty for someone: It is incumbent on us to help = It is our duty to help.

vociferous: adj, expressing feelings or opinions in a very loud or forceful way, He was vociferous in his support of the proposal.

onerous, adj, difficult and unpleasant to do or deal with, an onerous chore/ duty.

vacuous, adj, lacking meaning, importance, or substance, a dull and vacuous movie.

vehement, adj, showing strong and often angry feelings: very emotional. He issued a vehement denial of the accusation.

inadvertant, adj, not intended or planned: ACCIDENTAL, an inadvertant error.

小白来顶一下,不能给出专业的回答莫怪哈~ 俺就是从《美国传统词典》上查了一下,给楼主多一个参考角度吧~ (PS,第一个和最后一个单词楼主是不是打错了?)

谢谢哈!俺在学习中,希望高手给出专业的之点哈!有一个问题哈:3000中对onerous的解释是费时间花心思的,这个释义对吗?请教中。。。。

小白再来答一下~先说明俺只能在词典层面回答一下哈,涉及到单词的实际使用情况或约定俗成的用法确实不太了解T_T

对于3000里中文释义的话,“花心思”还算比较贴切一些,个人感觉onerous这个词不太能体现出“费时间“这层意思。

其实看3000上的近义词:arduous, burdensome, challenging, exacting, grueling, taxing, toilsome,这几个词基本上都有麻烦、困难和难以承受这一层意思,从这些词的解释来看,不太能体现出“费时间”的意思,再看“花心思”,“花心思”这个词貌似没什么负性含义,而onerous个人感觉是有些负性含义的。所以,既然楼主都已经详细查这个单词了,不妨就直接按词典的解释理解吧~

PS.附一下韦氏和AHD的词义辨析:

韦氏:
onerous, burdensome, oppressive, exacting mean imposing hardship. Onerous stresses being laborious and heavy especially because distasteful<the onerous task of cleaning up the mess>.

AHD:
burdensome, onerous, oppressive, arduous, demanding, rigorous, exacting
These adjectives all apply to what imposes a severe test of bodily or spiritual strength.
Onerous adds to burdensome the connotation of the figuratively heavy load imposed by something irksome or annoying: “Old forms of government finally grow so oppressive that they must be thrown off”  (Herbert Spencer).
